Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 You know nothing. Go eat a giant salad. When you s*** it out, what do you think all the still present plant matter in your feces is? Its undigested plant matter....because we aren't meant to digest it LMFAO. Why do you think the Chinese cook all of their vegetables? Because they understand that its the only way to make it digestible. The problem being that cooking vegetables kills all the nutrients in it anyway. Notice how vegans and vegetarians live off smoothies, juices, etc? All attempts to make plant matter more digestible. You can eat raw meat and absorb all the nutrients from it by comparison, assuming that its real meat (I see that a few of you seem to be shifting the argument towards commercialized grocery meat...no you idiots, humans weren't meant to live off of that either). When I say "meat", I'm talking about a primal diet that would mean healthy wild animals. Not a bioengineered Chicken fed got knows what. Your digestive tract is nothing like a herbivores. Jesus Christ, our education system is non-existent. How can we possibly be herbivores when there are something like 7+ essential vitamins/nutrients that are nowhere to be found in plant foods? On the contrary, there is nothing essential to your life that you can't find in some part of the animal (organs, fats, eggs, milk, etc). You are warped into believing that meat is just protein and fats while plants and vegetables provide everything else. Animal liver is loaded with more DIGESTIBLE vitamins and minerals than any plant. Then there is vitamin B12 which only exists in animal products, and seaweed (which in nature is obviously only available to a small population of humans). Creatine, vitamin K, etc, etc. are all the same. So can you just go live in the woods then? I'm sure there are plenty of wild squirrels and sparrows for you to eat.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Raw t-bone and a side chicken that I butchered at my desk. I hope nobody has plans to use the shitter here this afternoon. I'm lucky I get to work near forests. I just bring my bow to work and hunt during my lunch. The other day I was able to land a nice freshwater turtle and a few snails. Which I of course ate raw unlike you f***ing idiots, lol!

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 The best play is to offer him the damn QO and if he accepts, so what, you don't have Vlad until late April, work in DH ABs etc and trade Donaldson at the break or sooner.. He can do a lot for this mess and being around the guys... If he doesn't accept you will get a comp pick and probably better options then you would get at this late date with a band-aid JD... I will be pissed if we just let him go tomorrow just to get rid of him...

Creatine, vitamin K, etc, etc. are all the same. Correcting your mistakes is fun, time for edition 2. Also, I'm still waiting to hear about these 'anti nutrients' any why plants don't want animals to eat fruits (or spread their seeds). This undigested plant matter is called dietary fibre. It absorbs water and prevents constipation and diarrhea. Anyone who has eaten too much dairy can tell you how important fibre is. Fibre also removes toxins and excess materials from the gut. People with low fibre intakes are at high risk for diverticulitis. Just out of curiosity I did a quick Google search and found a number of scholarly articles linking a carnivorous diet to diverticulitis. It sure is strange that the diet we are evolved for would give us an inflammatory bowel disorder. Cooking vegetables does not 'kill' the nutrients found within. It's true that some (not all) of the water soluble polyphenols like vitamin C can be converted. However, cooking breaks down those pesky cell walls that make dietary fibre indigestible. Inside those cell walls are a bunch of other nutrients that your body may not absorb otherwise. The fact that we require essential amino acids from animal products does nothing to show that we shouldn't eat plants. True omnivores like black bears also require the same nutrients. You bring up milk an awful lot. I find that interesting considering that roughly two thirds of humans lose the ability to metabolize lactose after infancy. For the humans that can metabolize lactose, it is a rather recent development that resulted from the domestication of animals like cattle and goats. The gene only spread because it provided a large influx of calories. Humans have not evolved to depend on dairy products.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Well at least the GMO argument is quite settled in that they are incredibly beneficial for humanity. Anti-GMO morons are basically tools who can't distinguish between GMO and food processing.

Hmmm. This sounds terrible. Sounds like it may not be a good look for Atkins/Shapiro once he does open up. I’m thinking it’s more likely that it won’t be a good look for JD. Anti-Semitism + JD hiring Kawhi Leonard's agent. But f*** it, unless there is a serious injury at play, the FO should just swallow their pride and QO the guy even if he shows up every day with a picture of Atkins to wipe his ass with. But it sounds to me like there is going to be a team very happy to get JD on a discount contract next year. QO comp + injury concerns + potential clubhouse issues/desperation to leave does not pay out top dollar.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 At this rate there’s a pretty good chance he accepts the QO. For whatever reason Shatkins doesn’t want that, so here we are. I’d like to know the reasoning as well. We might see JD moved for pennies to avoid the optics of not offering him the QO after the season, which would be a terrible outcome anyway you slice it.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 My wife manages an epigenetics lab. Those who don't believe in Science are ridiculous. Well it's always good to be skeptical of any individual scientist (or study), who might have their own personal agenda on the line when they speak. It's the science where there is group consensus that should not be debated. The funniest thing about the anti-science conspiracy nuts (in this example GMO) is that they don't realize that there are likely scores of scientists whose wet dream is to prove that GMO shorten the lifespan of everyone who eats them by 10 years and have every expert in the community begrudgingly admit that they are correct after scrutinizing their paper.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 It's the science where there is group consensus that should not be debated. This part is wrong. Science should always be debated and questioned, it's how we advance our knowledge. Consensus doesn't change that. The problem is when you have people who push contrarian views not because they have facts to back it up, but because they, for whatever reason, don't want to or are incapable of accepting the results - and feel the need to force everyone else not to either.

Yes, actually, I did not say that clearly, but what I mean is within the scientific community things can and should always be debated. Outside of it, it would be wise for the layman to accept the consensus until further notice. And if the layman can't accept that, then they should go ahead with the schooling and learn enough about the subject at hand so that they can contribute a worthwhile opinion.

He'll refuse it and we get compensation. Letting him walk just doesn't make any sense. IMO.
mphenhef Verified Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 If I remember correctly, Donaldson was also not getting along well with the A's front office when he got traded to the Jays. I think most will look at that history and assume the perceived issues are on the Donaldson side. I also would guess that he just really doesn't like being in a losing situation which led to a lot of frustration from him in both organizations.
