Gibby is the best, most charismatic manager in the league.

He really is, It's too bad a lot of fans pull s*** out of their ass to hate him, the dumbest I saw today:

"Why was Borucki pulled out of the game? He should have been alloud to finish it, Gibbons again showing he's the worst manager in the league."

At least Gibby can spell 'allowed'.

MLB.com's Jim Duquette's trade prediction...

4. J.A. Happ, Blue Jays: The southpaw continues to be consistent from the left side, sporting impressive stats again this year despite pitching for a struggling Toronto team. Given his attack mentality and experience in both leagues, the 35-year-old will likely receive attention from a sizable number of clubs. He looks like a perfect fit to return to the Senior Circuit to join a Brewers squad that needs more rotation depth to complement its dominant bullpen.

Prediction: Happ to Milwaukee for a package of right-hander Corbin Burnes (MLB.com's No. 58 prospect) and outfielder Brett Phillips (Brewers' No. 5 prospect).

9. Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays: Donaldson has suffered a number of calf-related injuries this year, and his most recent setback may hurt his chances of being traded altogether -- which is why he ranks so low on the list. If he stays healthy, however, he could bring back a significant return for the Jays -- something similar to what the Orioles might receive for Machado. Look for him to return from the DL toward the middle of July with the possibility of becoming a top trade target in August if he returns to form. The Cubs could use roster depth and extra punch in their lineup, and manager Joe Maddon is one of the best at rotating his personnel for maximum production.

Prediction: Donaldson to the Cubs for a package of right-handers Adbert Alzolay (team's top prospect) and Alex Lange.

I don't see it happening, but Burnes and Phillips would be an amazing haul.

All in all, I think that would be a pretty good haul for Happ and JD. I'd rather acquire position players than pitchers, but our pitching prospect are definitely a weakness and Burnes, Alzolay and Lange would should help.

This also gives us an opportunity to discuss Brett Phillips....when he came over from Houston, he was striking out in the mid to high teens (in A and AA). As soon as he got to Milwaukee, he started striking out 30% of the time. Reminds me a lot of what Teoscar did as soon as he came to the Jays. Coincidence? or is there something to it?

And qualify him for a year?

Yup, not interested in trading him for s***** prospects. Would much rather Donaldson at 1/18 next year than watch Alzolay get his tits lit for the next 6 years

Big assumption that he'd accept a qualifying offer isn't it?

We've released Al Alburquerque. He'd limited his walks in AAA this year (as he did for the Royals AAA team last year). A tad surprised we didn't at least give him a look. Perhaps a cost saving measure?

Agreed ... and if he does not accept the Jays would get a compensatory pick after Competitive Balance Round B (~ 75-80)

As such, makes sense to trade Donaldson if prospects are 'rated' more valuable than above compensatory pick

Yeah, they'll value the return over comp pick for sure. I doubt JD would take the QO, rarely you see guys of his caliber take pay cuts.

He might've requested it to catch on somewhere else, but the timing doesn't make sense.

I agree on the take, we can still talk to JD and Happ in the off-season regardless. As for Phillips, it's hard to say if the Brewers changed anything or not, or it's just competition, he still walks at a very good rate and he's an above average CF with a cannon for an arm, which makes Pillar expendable, imo.

I hate pitching prospects (hate them!) but I’d make that deal with the Brewers. I don’t think they will though. Adding Phillips gives us a reason to trade Pillar, which is an added bonus.

You can't hate something that doesn't exist

There are many reasons to trade Pillar, foremost being he suxxx

We keep thinking that JD is still an MVP and All Star. He is no longer. I think a QO of whatever (I guess around $18m) is pretty good coin for him.

I think pay cuts for many could be in order. Too many guys injured or turn to crap with long term deals.

I don't understand it. He does not suck (he may blow, but who really knows). He has the top WAR on the team, makes $3.25m and is still under control. Who in the system can replace him? No one.

Who cares if there is no one to replace him. He's getting old, he's declining / losing his top asset = his speed, and by the time the Jays are good again, he will be useless. Why wouldn't Jays trade him for a younger asset if they can?

Throw Pompey or somebody in CF

The theory is that his defensive is going to continue to decline has he ages. As soon as that goes, he's a 4th OFer or back in AAA because his bat is simply not improving. He's a 2 WAR player right now who probably won't be by the time Vlad, Bo and the boys are ready to make this team competitive again. You trade him now if you can get anything of value before he turns back into a pumpkin.
