When the Twins DFAd Hughes that should have been the signal. It's one thing to say the Red Sox can eat up bad contracts, but when the f'n Twins are eating up $20m, then Rogers can eat Morales' contract. No excuses.

I was just going to post that. Shatkins needs to grow a pair of nuts and eat this contract.

Hanley Ramirez gets DFA'd. Not surprising, as he is in the midst of his second consecutive negative WAR season.

wow - he was on fire to start this season. I didn't realise he'd fallen off a cliff. 0 for his last 20 though.

They don't want to hover around .500 and be in the race at the deadline. Keeping him likely puts us in a better position to cash in JD and Happ.

Maybe they'll try to package Morales (with partial salary relief) along with Happ or Donaldson and get a prospect back in the deal too

Wow.

Dude looked like a hall of famer through his 20s. Fell off a cliff after 30.

Sign Hanley and use him as an excuse to DFA Morales and still keep Vlad down

He bounced back nicely in 2016, but yeah, he looks done.

I know I've read a few times that Hanley doesn't like baseball, so perhaps this type of decline shouldn't be that unexpected. He's like Adam Dunn.

Ramirez and Sandoval signed at the same time, $180m flushed down the toilet.

TBF to the Red Sox, this saves them $22m on Ramirez’s vesting option next season. 100% right on the Twins though.

Yeah

Their financial status and farm system, and the Sale trade (also facilitated by their farm system) has allowed them to afford such mistakes and get away with it

Baez getting flak from the Chicago media or team mates(isn't specific) because he took groundballs with Lindor...

• Before Wednesday's Interleague game between Chicago and Cleveland, Javier Baez took advantage of being reunited with his Team Puerto Rico teammate, Francisco Lindor, to take grounders with the Indians' shortstop. Baez said he got some flack about doing so from those who feel opposing players shouldn't mingle.

"It's so difficult to explain this -- it can go 50-50, the right way or wrong way," Baez said Friday. "It's 2018; we're not in the '80s, '90s. We don't hate the other team like it used to be. The game has changed so much."

He said he learned a lot talking to Lindor.

"To me, it doesn't matter what they say out there," Baez said. "If I have a chance to do it again, I'll do it. It should be fun and it's a game -- it should be a fun. If we get a chance, we'll do it again and hopefully people understand."

Actually this is old news, for some reason it came out in todays MLB article... it was during this series on the 26th of April. https://www.cubshq.com/update/WATCH-Javy-Baez-wags-his-finger-at-Indians-shortstop-24619

Mariners just traded for Span and Colome

Wow... it's f***ing May, lol.

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays have traded outfielder Denard Span and closer Alex Colome to the Mariners. According to the Topkin, the Rays will acquire Andrew Moore and Tommy Romero from the Mariners in return.

Seems odd, what do the Mariners have that the Rays possibly want?

See my edit above... lol

Romero's numbers looks somewhat interesting at least. Can't seem to find him on even the Mariners' prospect lists.

Nothing gets the fans out to the park like waving the white flag in May to save some $$.
