Tabler is a clown, definitely prefer Shulman. If there was one interesting idea in the OP, I do seem to recall Fletcher doing a pretty good job, and he was one of my favourite players back in those days.

Is this a troll thread?

Unfortunately not.

Though now that everyone disagrees with RJF it means this forum is hostile to newcomers and basically dead activity wise.

Shulman does get excited for big plays. Which makes me appreciate it more. As opposed to Martinez, who loses his goddamn mind everytime a flyball gets hit to the waring track.

A thread in which RJF posts stupid s***, people disagree with his stupid s***, and then rjf whines that the forum sucks? The only step remaining is for crr to ride in on his noble steed and defend the honour of his moron friend.

Gotta love Bucks emotion and enthusiasm.

You mean the emotion and enthusiasm that causes him to constantly trip over his own tongue as well as calling players by the wrong names?

Yeah -- can't enjoy a game without that...

Fletcher was fun when he did broadcasts for The Score. I'm surprised it didn't lead to more gigs. He wasn't trying to impress anyone with tons of knowledge, he was just naturally engaging and easy going. I also loved him as a player in his Expos and Jays days.

I remember one broad at where he said something about a guy who hit " a pee rod" base hit. Couldn't stop laughing since the real term is piss rod.... but he cleaned it up for TV.

Man, I feel so blessed to have witnessed that moment. Definitely my favourite baseball memory ever. I wasn't old enough to comprehend Carter's homer, but I am not sure I'll ever see a more entertaining inning of baseball in my life. MLB should just play that whole inning as a commercial to show how exciting the game can be.

I know it's personal taste and all (I love listening to games called by Hawk) but I honestly can't believe some people think Shulman is anything other than amazing. He doesn't try to bore you with stats, knows his own limitations, has an extremely pleasant voice and knows when to turn up the excitement. Guy is really good at his job and we are pretty damn lucky that he's from this city.

f*** that - nicknames no shirts is a MUCH better way to promote the game. THAT'S how you show people how much fun can be had playing the game. I hope it spurs a generation of kids writing their nicknames on the back of their shirts with sharpies in the sandlots around Northern America. The god damn home run by Jose and the success of the Jays in 2015/2016 did such a s***** job of captivating the younger crowds and promoting baseball across our nation.

The difference between the Carter homerun and the Bautista homerun for me is how cathartic the Bautista homerun felt. I'm sure Phillies fan felt a lot of tension in that moment but as a Jays fan, you weren't really expecting to win that game and we're o.k. with Guzman (IIRC) going in the next one. The Carter homerun was almost anticlimatic. Like holy s***, suddenly it's over and the Jays have already won and you barely had time to process it because it was such a sudden momentum shift.

My friend, who hates sports in general. Saw that game and said even he was really into it. Probably the most entertaining game I've ever seen.

I got off work a bit early that day, met some friends at Joyce on 4th in downtown Calgary. I joined the game in progress in the 5th inning, got to see basically everything happen. The bar was packed, and it was the loudest atmosphere and most fun I've ever had watching any game at the bar. Like, it was actually quiet during the game - everyone was watching intently.

When Martin's throw hit Choo's bat and the Rangers subsequently took the lead, everyone lost their mind. But when Jose hit that donger to take the lead, it was absolutely electric. I wish I could relive that moment. It gave me shivers, and still does when I re-watch it.

I pictures gorgeous women ripping off their shirts in excitement.

I can confirm: It was exactly like that!

Buck and pat can't hold Shulman's jock. I would give my left leg to have Shulman for all 162.

I have MLB.tv and whenever Shulman isn't calling the game, I will watch the other teams feed (unless it's the ChiSox...ugh)

Yep. Tabby is horrendous. Dan and Buck can be decent as Shulman does all the work and Buck can just babble.

I remember how excited people were when they heard that Buck was coming back to do Jays games. The catch was that he only agreed to it if he could do play by play and it turns out he's quite bad at it. Dan pushing him back into the colour role is a win before you even start counting Dan's own contribution.
