Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Price hasn't been a good fit in Boston. And also he seems to be having persistent arm issues. But he could be a fantastic buy-low candidate for the Jays. Especially if his arm is just tweaked and not really injured. The BoSox need a SP for 2017, and are shopping around now. Maybe Estrada or Liriano work. Prolly Estrada because the Sox have so many lefties. And what if part of our asking price was Price. The Jays don't have a lot of SP on the farm, and two of five are FAs after 2017. Price is a much-needed lefty and seemed to be a good fit here. I am not sure if the BoSox would eat a lot of salary. I am not even sure you can trade a player who's on the DL. But it's something I find interesting. LMAO f*** that.

We decided (rightly IMO) that it wasn't worth it. 2 years later (including a year of injury problems), it would make even less sense to acquire him now.

Effit Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Is there a GDT? If there is, I must have them on ignore.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 You have orgfiller on ignore? I think he posted this seconds before I made the GDT or just after.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Yankees just went 8-2 to move back into first place Red Sox are scared
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Back when the wild card team got a 5 game series, and you didn't have to play the AL East winner, the division title meant so much less.. I like this way better
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Back when the wild card team got a 5 game series, and you didn't have to play the AL East winner, the division title meant so much less.. I like this way better I think I agree. I've always thought the MLB playoffs should be as exclusive as possible, but I think the accomplishment of landing a division title is absolutely worth watering down the Wild Card spot somewhat (plus it's nice that middling markets don't dwindle in August too). There are downsides, though, like when two Wild Card teams are better than the other divisional winners (see: 2015 NL) and are forced to do the one-game cage match. But the arrangement overall is way more good than bad in my eyes.

Seeing Alford in the OF alongside of Pillar will be so enjoyable compared to the slugs we employ in the corners.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Ahhhh...the annual Tulo season ending injury. This guy is such a turd.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I'm excited to see what Refsnyder can do...he's Asian.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 I hope they at least give a hard look at Refsynder until that time. Great news tho, I thought he would be done for the year.

sdyment Verified Member Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Don't know if this was posted, but I thought it was worth a look. I was just beginning a love affair with the Jays (85 East Champs), soon followed by my first real crushing collapse (f$!#* Tigers!!) I used to love seeing Cardinals highlights on George Michael's Sports Machine and listening to Tom and Jerry on the radio. I found out about the Carter/Alomar trade the next morning while walking past a Toronto Sun box! http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/20163577/dear-1987-not-going-believe-happened-baseball He's right though... Barfield through Bautista it hasn't changed much except for some added cynicism.
sdyment Verified Member Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Is there any chance Borucki has earned himself a September start (or sooner) with last nights outing? Dude is crushing AA.
