Trade for Howie Kendrick to fill in at 2B and then move out to LF? Or does his 2B defense not cut it anymore?

I don't know - but you need another avatar now.

Isn't that Travis in your avatar? (On phone, small pic) ignore of its not

Haha that's what I thought you might've been getting at, it's Gurriel Jr

Gotta acquire a full time 2B and pencil Travis in as a backup/utility guy moving forward. He's made of glass.

Gose for Travis I'd still an amazing trade in retrospect tho.

f*** it, Just call up Bichette to play 2nd and might as well bring Vlad Jr in for LF. Boom World series here we come.

There are times where I feel Carrera is a solid major league 4th OF and then there are moments like last night where it looked like the Space Jam monsters sucked the talent out of him.

Carrera is always like this, the more you see of him the more you see how inadequate he is. he is not a full time guy

plus wtf is with his inability to catch? ive never seen so many fly balls dropped or whiffed on - brutal. that just has to kill a pitcher's mindset

Interesting article geared around what Pillar is doing differently this year. Apparently he reads Fangraphs too.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/another-way-to-lift-the-ball-better/

“To be honest, you’ll talk to other people in here and they’ll make a conscious effort to think about their launch angle. I’m just trying to hit the ball hard,” he said. “FanGraphs is the reason I wanted to make a lot of changes.”

“I went on and did some homework on myself, and I realized that I was in the top 20 or whatever last year for hard-hit balls, but I was also fourth in the league in soft contact,” Pillar continued. “That led me to think. A lot of that had to do with swinging at pitches outside of the strike zone.”

This. He reminds me of the left fielder on my softball beer league team.

He also can't throw. How many times has he given the other team an extra 90 feet this year by throwing to the wrong base?

Carrera is bit like the poor man's Jose Reyes. Back when Jose Reyes was here, you knew that if you added everything up he was providing value but it was hard to reconcile that with the sloppy plays you saw on the field. Tulo on the other hand is a player with his drawbacks (mainly the contract) but his mistake free game inspires confidence and makes you feel good about the team and it's really, really easy to like him a whole lot more than what the actual dollar and cents difference between the two would dictate.

Over a full season, Carrera would be about a 1.5 WIN player which basically means below average but well above replacement level which is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a bench player but if you could trade him for a slightly more expensive player who provides the same value without as many mistakes, as a fan, you'd make that switch in a heartbeat.

I wonder if you could put a number on morale destroying plays? Like surely that has some negative value beyond that of the actual play right?

Can we call up Leblebijian? He's pretty good defensively and is raking in AAA.

No we can't. We don't run the team see--we're just fans.

if we could get 2016 Pearce that would help with the loss of Travis.

Not having Zeke on the field is a step in the right direction.

Yay, Steve.

I have a feeling he's going to come back with a vengeance

Honestly Zeke is valuable. He isn't so utterly s***** and useless like Coghlan but he's not good enough to make drama about being a starter.

I wonder if this some of link between the improvements Pillar has made and the links Smoak has made. It would be fun to think so. Pillar talked about his Fangraphs page. It is as simple as someone sat down with these guys and went through their batted ball statistics and pointed out room for improvements? Would that it were so simple.
