Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I think he means if they were going to go over, then they should have just gone crazy and spent huge since they were going to get penalized anyway. Seems a bit odd to complain that we didn't go ahead and sign a shitload of future org guys when we landed the best international prospect available.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Didn't we sign, like, 40+ IFAs that year? I thought I saw an article posted 'bout that 'round these parts within the last couple of weeks. Edit: Maybe that was last year. Or maybe I'm a dumn.

I agree, I think Vlad alone was worth the penalty. It really depends on what else was out there that was worth throwing millions on.

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I, for one, am absolutely shocked to see that Lackey is one of the whiners. These guys are both such f***ing idiots. "I've never heard of him therefore cheater" Disregard the fact that Thames was huge even before Korea and has been huge throughout his time in Korea. The great John Lackey doesn't know who he is and that's the important thing. "You watch film on recent stuff and try to figure out a way, you know, to get him out. But I mean, really even the homer hit the other way, I mean, you don't see that happen here very often," Lackey said Oppo homers = juice. LOL
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Those are some pretty damning accusations getting tossed around like they're nothing. Lackey and Bosio need to be disciplined for that. There's just no need.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Former Blue Jay Emilio Bonifacio's brother, Jorge, has been called up to the Royals along with P Matt Strahm.. with Raul Mondesi Jr. and Paulo Orlando getting sent down. Royals already shaking up the roster to try to spark the team in a middling AL Central.. where everyone is within a game of each other, unlike the AL East and West.. Shockingly, KC's starters are #1 in ERA.. the bullpen is killing them, though... Cleveland is 30th in SP ERA..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 On the topic of Cleveland--so far, the Edwin deal is not making the team better. Worst starting pitching in the AL.. only the bullpen is keeping them afloat. After Salazar & Carrasco, Kluber/Bauer/Tomlin have ERAs north of 6... the offense, no thanks to Edwin, is only being supported by their own pieces in Jose Ramirez, Santana, Lindor, Brantley and Chisenhall.. so far, giving $20M to Edwin has been looking like a waste and could end up being an albatross for the Indians.. Kendrys has been the more productive player here in Toronto, as Edwin only has 2 HR/5RBIs, batting .217, and striking out as horribly as Jose Bautista..however, he is a slow starter. But Cleveland can't wait forever.. not when the pitching can't carry its weight. Like the Jays, it's surprising no teams other than Milwaukee showed interest in Eric Thames.. I mean, he's up to 8 HRs now.. and has the most runs scored in MLB (20).. quite a steal for the Brewers!

Former Jays and baby Jays on teams: KC Hobson, Kevin Ahrens, Caleb Gindl, Rommie Lewis (Lancaster), Kyle Drabek as pitcher, Andy Wilkins (Sugar Land), David Carpenter, Santiago Nessy, Tony Abreu (Bridgeport), David Aardsma, Nolan Reimold (Long Island), Michael Crouse, Brandon League (New Britain), Aaron Laffey (Somerset)

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Bruised ribs and either grade 1 or 2 strain of his left AC joint. 6-8 weeks minimum What a dumb thing to do in season....
baseballsss Verified Member Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Bruised ribs and either grade 1 or 2 strain of his left AC joint. 6-8 weeks minimum What a dumb thing to do in season.... You' d think the giants have it somewhere in the contract that if he does something like that they won't have to pay him? **EDIT** I should say not have to pay him for the 6-8 weeks. And I'm well aware they won't want to piss off their star pitcher to. It's more of a curiosity thing
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 This is all hearsay for the time being, but apparently there's significant concern within the Giants' org that MadDum will be out longer than the initial two months time frame. http://es.pn/2oSiYfR
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 That's pretty depressing injury if you're the Giants. What a stupid injury. It seems like everyone gets hurt on dirtbikes. He definitely shouldn't have been riding one.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 And if that's not bad enough for the Giants, Melvin Upton Jr. is out 8 weeks with a torn ligament in his thumb.. Giants cannot find anyone to play LF right now...
