HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 He is so damn polarizing. lol I love him. The guy makes so many headlines, both good and bad. Good- Orioles try beaning him and miss. He hits a homer that same AB and proceeds to tell Adam Jones to f*** off the next half inning. Bad- Goes public with his contract negotiations. For a league that lacks star power Bautista is one of the few players who can make headlines so frequently. And he makes them in the US even, I've never seen a Jays player do that. Very Bad - Injures his arm permanently by trying to throw out Delmon Young at 1B in a situation where the score doesn't warrant it
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I might have to change the title back to The Jose Bautista Thread Nooo keep it like this, I had no idea about a 3 year/$50M offer to Bautista, more informative than just "JB Thread" lol
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Very Bad - Injures his arm permanently by trying to throw out Delmon Young at 1B in a situation where the score doesn't warrant it That one emotional decision cost him potentially tens of millions of dollars.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Staring to think this Shatkins FO crew is a Lil Helter Skelter and big on Smoke n Mirror's... Cause this ain't the offseason they spoke of or said like there plans were when it began! Bait n switch, cheaper! Better? Not sure. Hmmmmmmm
bzapple Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Yeah, I'd be totally okay with this. Health and age are concerns but if they can rotate him through 1B/DH and the occasional corner OF start, I can see him remaining productive into his late 30s. Everyone always says he has "old player skills". Plus, I'd like to see the FO show some solidarity by committing to a franchise icon. I understand a lot of posters here aren't interested in that narrative, but I think there is something to be said for showing loyalty and appeasing the fanbase (to a certain extent).

I feel like I haven't seen your name in ages lol long time!!
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Could have had Edwin for 3/60......don't like this
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Could have had Edwin for 3/60......don't like this Oh?
Governator Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Could have had Edwin for 3/60......don't like this Edwin could have had 4/80, what are you talking about?
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Nooo keep it like this, I had no idea about a 3 year/$50M offer to Bautista, more informative than just "JB Thread" lol The Debate rages on ... Good Batz vs Bad Batz ... Forevermore! Bitter and twisted as it is... Logic will not win here today!
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Could have had Edwin for 3/60......don't like this Ur so dum
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Could have had Edwin for 3/60......don't like this Actually Edwin could have had US for 4/$80. It would suck to see him make less money than here and playing somewhere else on top of that. For him and Bautista I was hoping that if they don't come back they get paid very well
Governator Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 The Debate rages on ... Good Batz vs Bad Batz ... Forevermore! Bitter and twisted as it is... Logic will not win here today! Batz isn't a bad player though, even at his worst he's a good player.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Edwin could have had 4/80, what are you talking about? The other thread Gov ... Reporting that EE is having a hard time even to get a 3/60 deal now!
bzapple Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Could have had Edwin for 3/60......don't like this Edwin hasn't signed yet. Jose hasn't signed yet. What are you basing this on?
bzapple Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Holy crap! I feel like I haven't seen your name in ages lol long time!! Haha, I didn't follow as much this past summer due to working non-standard hours, so naturally fell out of posting regularly. You must have slowed down your pace as well, I thought your post count would be at least 50k by now.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Oh? Edwin could have had 4/80, what are you talking about? Edwin hasn't signed yet. Jose hasn't signed yet. What are you basing this on? Think he's talking about this report: Edwin Encarnacion is in wait-and-see mode because of how his market cratered. At this point, no team even willing to go three years, $60M.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I'm really warming to the idea of Jarrod Dyson. He's a very good player, and a lot of fun to watch. Might be amenable to an extension too, as he's never been a full-time player and might find guaranteed money attractive. Downside would be that Gibby will almost certainly hit him first in the order. Not if we sign Fowler too!!! Dyson, Pillar, Fowler would be wicked OF. That would transform the identity of this team.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Very Bad - Injures his arm permanently by trying to throw out Delmon Young at 1B in a situation where the score doesn't warrant it He hasn't been the same since. I expected to hear that he would have shoulder surgery this off season but maybe its irreparable. His arm f***ing sucked last year. It was his only plus defensive asset in the past.
Governator Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 See this is where casuals are going to lose their s*** when he signs with the Indians for less than we offered. He had his opportunity to get a deal done, this FO wants to actually sign guys during these meetings and it was obvious that their spending allowance depended on Edwin's decision.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Batz isn't a bad player though, even at his worst he's a good player. This Might be True if you close your eyes while he is in the field! Lol Based on the Debate here you can see Gov there's a lot to miss or not miss about him.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Edwin hasn't signed yet. Jose hasn't signed yet. What are you basing this on? Reported offers on the table to Edwin that he can't even get a 3/60 offer. If we offered that to him now he probably takes it in a heartbeat. Morales at DH and Pearce in LF.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Every year there are rumours that an elite player won't get paid. They always get paid. Last year it was Justin Upton whose 'market collapsed' and he got 133M. Edwin is going to get paid, probably more than 80M.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Haha, I didn't follow as much this past summer due to working non-standard hours, so naturally fell out of posting regularly. You must have slowed down your pace as well, I thought your post count would be at least 50k by now. Yeah man, no kidding! Same here dude, work all year round and school during the school season gives me much less time than my old 50K days to do much of anything hahaha. Glad to see you still around and doing well!

Last year it was Justin Upton whose 'market collapsed' and he got 133M. Edwin is going to get paid, probably more than 80M. You make a valid point. The market is still open. Give it 1-2 months and certain teams might start feeling getting boxed out and getting desperate, or maybe after a couple of 'big' trades and are willing to splash to capitalize on hype because they're "one piece" away. Still very funny to see how the agent has been drumming up the Winter Meetings and so confident to pull that 5 year 20AAV contract for Edwin and he can't even get 3 years.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Very Bad - Injures his arm permanently by trying to throw out Delmon Young at 1B in a situation where the score doesn't warrant it I honestly don't understand this. Why would a throw to first blow out his arm more than a throw to third or home?? I have to think his arm probably had some pre-existing damage and would of gone anyway in the near future, another time he made another hard throw, to third or home.

He threw as hard as he could to prove a point. It's no different than Sanchez trying to overthrow and bean a guy with a +100 mph fastball.

Edwin might take 3/60 in late January, not in early December.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Probably throwing shade at the Orioles. Mark Shapiro is a boss ass bitch.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 3/50 for bautista? Better than 4/80 for edwin tbh.
