If we could trade Smoak I would forget about a lot of bad things.

If signing Justin Smoak to a 2 year $8M deal continues to be the worst thing Shatkins does - we're in excellent shape.

In my opinion we have the potential to put together some damn good lineups, but I'm 100% sold that we need to sign Fowler to lead off.

You only have 8 in the line-up vs LHP

I'm told Pearce's kids are named Mojo and Swagger.

That's odd.

Pretty sure he's got just one. And her name is Jensen.

I like the Pearce signing. I don't see why they would platoon Pearce and Smoak as Pearce's splits are better than Smaok vs RHP.

Pearce Splits:

Smoak is better than Upton vs RHP so Pearce can slide in to LF. That's the benefit of having a versatile defender.

It isn't awesome. Retarded names are stupid.

People trying to be the coolest ones in the room.

Retarded names, and dads naming their sons after them (at least first names, middle names aren't as bad) are two things that really annoy me.

Jays haven't ruled out re-signing Encarnacion

http://www.rotoworld.com/images/headshots/MLB/3817.jpg

A team source told Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports that the Blue Jays have not ruled out re-signing Edwin Encarnacion.

Toronto recently added two players with similar skillsets to Encarnacion in Kendrys Morales and Steve Pearce, but Heyman's source said "miracles do happen." It still seems much more likely that the veteran slugger will end up heading somewhere else. Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported Monday morning that the Indians have checked in on the Encarnacion market, and the Red Sox could look to make a late run at him.

Probably interested in him in a "3 for 60" way now.

Ha. I'm named after my dad.

Didn't keep the tradition going though with my own son.

In what world does Steve Pearce have a similar skill set to Edwin?

Signing Pearce helps our leverage. It sounds like Edwin legit wanted to come back, but his agent wanted to squeeze every penny.

True. But the agent still works for Edwin, so if he really wanted to come back and was OK with the Jays offer, he'd be back.

I still think there's a good chance it will happen. Not much difference between $80M and $90M when you already have like $50M. He is loved here and he loves it here.

Just doesnt seem very efficient to pay him at this point.

With Pearce and Morales on the roster, I'd be disappointed if they spent a big chunk of what they have left on Edwin at this point. Just move on and try to improve the outfield.
