Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Is tito getting s*** on for int. walking the winning run or nah? God no. I think that was the right call. Rizzo is on fire and you set up the double play. He's trying not to give up the go ahead run in that situation.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Well s***, 17 people were killed in Chicago just over the Halloween weekend. That's ridiculous. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-chicago-weekend-shootings-violence-20161031-story.html

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 That is amazing. Period. Clip has gone viral I love it
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I'm surprised Chicago doesn't get the reputation that Detroit once did I know The crime rate seems insane there now
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I'm surprised Chicago doesn't get the reputation that Detroit once did Chicago is also the 3rd biggest city so your going to get a lot of homicides just on how many people there are in the city. The South side certainly seems pretty bad though. But like every city including Canadian ones you have your good parts and bad parts.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I'm surprised Chicago doesn't get the reputation that Detroit once did Chicago has a pretty horrible reputation. But it has enough good parts to make it a worthwhile city. Detroit is just a dump all around.

Detroit is just a dump all around. That's exactly it I love Chicago. As long as you stick to the magnificent Mile area, the lakeshore and the loop it's pretty nice, clean and seems safe.

I felt completely safe and we were out walking around the City at night (at times). I think they average 2 murders a day though.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 The game on FOX had average audience of 40 Million viewers and on SN in Canada 2.7 Million (doesn't include the Canadians that watched on FOX). Pretty great. Most watched baseball game in 25 years and outdrew the Cavs-Warriors game 7 last year by 10 Million.

I think that's pretty interesting, most people in Canada are primarily Jays fans and not baseball fans

Mittens87 Verified Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I think it's weird people can't appreciate baseball if their team isn't winning. I read one Orioles fan say baseball is boring if Orioles aren't playing. I follow all teams, don't mind too much if Jay's are sucking, you get used to it

There are a lot of jays bandwagon fans and if they slip next year numbers will go down again.

I think that beats the Warriors-Cavs game 7.

I tune in to the playoffs but even last year the WS didn't interest me much. I almost never watch a regular season game on TV unless it's the Jays in which case I probably watch 80% of them. I think a lot of fans around the country are like that.

I would be curious to see how low they could go for the Jays? I can't really see it going to much below 600,000 to 700,000K a game, with the momentum gained in the last two years.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 well for the wild card i went out to watch it... my wife and her sisters watched the game...they know nothing about baseball at all...

I watched the SN feed throughout the World Series, enjoy Vasgergian's play-by play and Buck IMHO is a very good color guy. He's good when he is able to pick his spots and provide insight; but falls apart when he has to carry the broadcast.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I wonder how many players consider umpires their co-workers. I'm sure some do, players like Tulo and the like who value their relationships with them but I'm sure a lot of players would only truly consider other players their co-workers and would only show reluctance to criticize players not the umps. Since it's really not an unfair criticism in the first place, I don't really see the big deal. It's not like he's airing out dirty laundry or anything. He's just calling it like it is from the safe distance of retirement. Some can't be bothered to wait until retirement. Former A's are the best people on twitter.

As an American fan, I wish we had the option of Martinez and Vasgergian here in the States. Joe Buck and Smoltz were brutal all series. Every game was like a Cubs local broadcast. That was one of the biggest reasons why I was rooting for the Indians to win.

Recently started listening to 1410 in BC, only sport network on radio I know of. Some guy named rich eisen couldn't say enough of how amazing Joe bucks broadcast was. I thought it was ridiculous how when Indians would make a play in the field, he would be all over how good the Cubs ground ball was. I loved the enthusiasm from Matt V though.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I developed a strange relationship with Cleveland the past few months. Started with frustration when they couldn't beat Boston in August, couldn't beat Detroit when we needed them to. Then rooting for them when the Red Sox played them. By the time we played them it was hard finding things to hate. Then full on rooting for them against the Cubs, felt about as depressed when they lost we when the Jay's would blow 2 run lead in the late innings.
