intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 "Especially when you don't have the prototypical power hitters at the plate" Zaun loving the unselfish play, the one run lead that got immediately erased.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Honestly if we can't handle the worst team in the division at home then it's time to call it We were overrated as f*** and it just caught up
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Ugh this offense is horrid right now
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 What's with TB always having the jays number. Seems like every year they give them fits, have the jays ever won a season series against them? Pretty sure 2014 was the only time in like ten years or something.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Get Dickey in here and take Estrada out
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 We score a run, get an early lead and everyone chimes in with so much negativity it f***ing kills the GDT. We're all frustrated with how they've been playing but seriously I'll take an early 1-0 lead and Marco going 9 up 9 down to start a game, every game.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Who walks alexei f***ing ramirez? Better than him hitting a 3 run homer!!! wait..
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Who walks alexei f***ing ramirez? A guy who doesn't throw an 0-2 home run to him.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 The Yankees traded their vets at the deadline and went on a 2nd half run. The Jays held on to theirs and are on the verge of completely collapsing out of a playoff spot by the weekend. What the Jays could have gotten for Edwin, JB, Saunders, etc, at the deadline will haunt us for a while, especially if the Jays miss the playoffs.

Yeah because trading for prospects has always worked out for us

JoeCarter Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I don't know why you're mentioning EE and Bautista as if a bunt causes 3 outs. What you're talking about is the result, not sure if you watched the game but that wasn't the intention of the action. The action was to put the ball in play against the shift for a base knock, the result was a sacrifice but it's not like Saunders squared early to move a runner over. And I posted the stats earlier. His numbers are BAD the second half, and bad overall with runners on base this year. He's setting it up for Edwin to bring the runner in. Eddy with runners in scoring position this year has a 41.8 FlyBall%, 15.2% of those fly balls result in homers. Overall he has a 42.6 FB% with 21.9% of those being homers. So it's close to half the times in that situation he'll hit a flyball. Whether or not it results in a homer (or a hit -- his average on fly balls is .306) the highest chance of outcome is a flyout. Best case on his fly ball he hits a homer doesn't matter if Travis is on 2nd or 3rd 2 runs score instead of 3, but worst case he flies out? Travis scores from third vs. him moving up to 3rd with two outs. Yes I know that Saunders could get on but he has a 28.6% chance of going on base to score on an edwin hit that occurs is 30% but scoring at least one on a sac fly is closer to 42%. Now you add context. Team is struggling badly, and we're playing against the Rays who have absolutely owned us. Do I want a sacrifice? No. Did Saunders have intentions of sacrificing? Doesn't look like it, you don't push a bunt to move a runner over you square early to ensure you make contact. But even then the % aren't as bad as people make it seem. Even our WPA dropped by only 1% you guys are making it seem like we gave up a 10 run inning Make a 1-2% -WPA decision every game and then tell me how you feel when we finish the season a game behind the 2nd wild card spot. Also, how is it that you make a post citing all kinds of things that look like numbers, and then end it with 'BUT WHO CARES ABOUT NUMBERS ANYWAY GUYS, AMIRITE!?????'
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 trade vgeterans and get younger we have to travel the the west and face the Mariners who could rip out our hearts and win the WC At this point all realistic hope will end in the Seattle series... there is a chance the Jays could be officially eliminated at the end of the Yankees series... It's actually sort of likely that some of the last home games will be meaningless, with the Jays eliminated... wow! horrible stuff and it happened so fast.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Nice throw Navarro you bum
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 trade vgeterans and get younger we have to travel the the west and face the Mariners who could rip out our hearts and win the WC I'm going to Seattle next week and with the Blue Jays play as of late, it might not be that fun of a series as I was anticipating.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 The offense looks so lost it's sad.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 After bouncing a throw three-quarters to second base, Navarro lazily catches a framable strike for ball 3. None of the commentators even toss out light criticism.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Pillar would've been rung up on that
CHRIS Verified Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 However you feel about the bunt, it has nothing to do with the fact that this team hasn't had a hit since the first batter of the game and that Estrada is perilously close to falling off a cliff. Boy, this is a lot of grief for something as simple as a struggling hitter trying to contribute, almost getting an infield single, and moving a runner to third as a worst case scenario. This team is not losing this game because they bunted and Tampa Bay didn't. Nobody said to the batters after Saunders, "hey, don't overshadow the bunt by getting more hits; let's try to eke out the next 8 innings".
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 I'm almost glad I won't be able to watch much over the next week (I am not giving up hope. Just worried)

They better win 3 of 4 against the Angels before heading into Seattle. Looks like the Mariners will have Walker, Iwakuma and King Felix pitching in that series with the way things are looking to lineup.

A relative who was convinced the Jays would be in it and the game would be awesome kept pressuring me to do it. I refused and refused trying to explain to them that the Jays could collapse and the game might be nothing... then just around the time implosion began I gave in and bought expensive tickets. Now I don't even think I'll get a chance to see Mookie Betts because he will be resting for the playoffs... The money doesn't bother me as much as wasting a Saturday to go see Dalton Pompey and Moncando... or whoever the red sox play.
