9 up 9 down

I'm not gonna say it yet but some jackass surely will

Then they get awarded.

Why does everyone assume Saunders bunt was a sac bunt? Because MLB Game Day said so? That was the fallback / worse case scenario.

Seriously. He didn't even square early he just dropped it and ran. He bunted it away from the shift

Saying it without saying it is still saying it.

Can the Jays score again so that Estrada doesn't have to throw a shutout? That's the real question.

More bunts pls

I'm pretty sure they weren't watching the game too busy looking up the exact percentages of the sac bunt that no one actually likes. Just too ignorant to understand the situation.

What are you talking about? Where do you see any assumption or mention of a bunt? Some guy made a goofy post about the score "in all likelihood" still being 0-0 if Saunders was left to hit away, and I simply showed that his 'in all likelihood' language was easily disprovable nonsense. It's significantly more likely than not that we score a run from that starting situation.

Math called. It awards you no points and asks that you delete your account.

With a runner on 2nd and 0 out, we have a 61.4% chance of scoring at least 1 run in that inning. So...uh yeah "in all likelihood" = Fail. It struck me that the Internet has really ruined things for people who got a little too comfortable with pulling numbers out of their butts. You know we can fact-check you now, right?

They did score the run though...

This is just an aside -- you think all teams share the same probability? So that 61% you threw out is the same whether if we're talking Twins or Red Sox in that situation? There needs to be context added to numbers

This too

That's not his point, his point is that regardless if the bunt happened or not the there's a 61% chance to score when Saunders was up

In all likelihood, he probably wasn't using "likelihood" in a mathematical context, but rather from the perspective of a struggling team having difficulty scoring runs.

Well obviously, and in our case with our sluggers, it's even better to not sacrifice.

Would it have been 61% chance to score the run if it was Carrera/Pillar/Goins coming up to bat?

I'm pretty certain this is exactly what he meant by it...

It's scored as a sac bunt but he was trying to lay it down for a base hit to beat the shift.
