Atkins: Liriano and two prospects to #Bluejays for Hutchison. #Pirates can't get a hold of one of the prospects, so can't announce.

The other prospect probably drained his phone's battery playing Pokemon Go.

People need to factor in the financials before declaring this a win.

So, $2.3 million + 1.3 years of Liriano + Harold Ramirez + PTBNL

for

$17 million + 2.3 years of Hutchison

If you declare Hutchison and Liriano a tie, then we're essentially paying $15 million for those two prospects.

So, Liriano (-0.4 WAR this year) better turn things around and be a hell of a lot better than Hutchison. Don't really like it, unless Pitt is eating some of that cash.

Well that's roughly the cost of a top 100 prospect.

How the f*** did they squeeze that much from Hutch???

Pirates pitching coach will turn hutch into a cy young contender

Hutch and Liriano are not a tie.

Liriano is having a bad year no double, but when was the last time Hutch was any good? Cleveland squared him up pretty good, and Tigers were unlucky not to do better off of him.

Hutch had a good season in 2014, but those who actually watch the games and remember 2014 would tell you he wasn't that great even then. That was the best year of his career, and he was very mediocre at best. I rememmber he had a good 1st half, but got blown out quite a bit in the second half.

I hate the "what have you done lately" with today's sports fans.

Bunch of f***ing loogans

Ya it should be "What will you do in 10 years?"

Current moves is Carerra to DL and Shultz up to the majors... Weird do we have space for the 2 pitchers and Liariano? Who stays up from Feldman and the Dodgers guy?

Dodgers guy already sent down according to Davidi.

we are filling the seats...continue that trend...it's not your money...winning = $$$$

Just remember that, when we don't sign Bautista and Encarnacion next year, because we're obligated to spend $17 million on a negative WAR pitcher.

He definitely isn't awesome. At the very best he's passable.

Great beard, good looking guy who competes. What's not to love?

Curious to see who the other prospect is, but the bottom line is Hutch was essentially non-piece for us now and going forward. Liriano has some serious turn around potential especially being reunited with Martin.

Mostly though, I really like Ramirez as a prospect. He reminds me of Devon Travis, though the LF/CF version without the HR pop, but an even more advanced contact hitter. But the comparison comes from my opinion that he's a guy who can just hit and play baseball and be a valuable piece despite a less than impressive frame. It's not inconceivable that we see him on the big league roster next year depending on what happens with Saunders and Bautista and where Bautista would play. it wouldn't shock me at all if he's a .300 hitter in the majors. Could even be a leadoff guy.

Liriano is a wild card, but worth it to acquire Ramirez.

I wonder what all the guys he's K'ing are swinging at

Liriano is throwing 41% of his pitches for balls. That's not great, thank god he still has his stuff and guys swing out of the zone at them.
