wamco Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I like it. I love getting guys with control like this and upton over rentals. Prolongs our "window" by helping this year and next. And a prospect thrown in for the prospect boners to jerk off to as well. This officially ends dickey after this year.
skirbs11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Where does Ramirez find himself on the depth chart with Pompey and Alford?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 This is a pretty cool trade. I'm not going to really miss Hutch even though he's not worthless by any stretch. The main thing we are really losing is a pretty fair chunk of cash. But when you play in a big market and lead the league in attendance it's good to see the FO flex some of that muscle to take on all that salary and grab a solid prospect in the process. This trade tells me that the state of the franchise is pretty strong. We improved our big league team and our minor league system this deadline without giving up much all because we were willing to take on salary.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Liriano is so much better than Hutchison, but the salary. This work great with Happ and Estrada. He traded for one more sleeper. In Shatkins we trust!!!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Harold Ramirez looks a bit like Devon Travis -- short right handed guy, line drive .300 hitter in the minors. Hit like .340 last year. #statscouting He's probably more like Pillar. Nothing wrong with that though.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I am most impressed by how Shatkins has added value with all the deals, without really trading anything. Really impressive Pirate Fans hate this deal.

It's still possible Pitts is covering some of the salary too.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 People need to factor in the financials before declaring this a win. So, $2.3 million + 1.3 years of Liriano + Harold Ramirez + PTBNL for $17 million + 2.3 years of Hutchison If you declare Hutchison and Liriano a tie, then we're essentially paying $15 million for those two prospects. So, Liriano (-0.4 WAR this year) better turn things around and be a hell of a lot better than Hutchison. Don't really like it, unless Pitt is eating some of that cash.
43211234 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Second prospect is probably Austin Meadows.
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Where does Ramirez find himself on the depth chart with Pompey and Alford? Ramirez was playing in AA this season, probably stays there. In between the two.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 What's wrong with his post? You don't think game calling is a thing? Owns Liriano in fantasy
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Second prospect is probably Austin Meadows. Lol could you imagine.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 The reality is that you are usually wrong about things like this. You might want to consider that before being so vocal with your opinions. One time I jumped to conclusions and was wrong. I'm not the only one who thought it would take a s*** load more to get Donaldson lol. Like I said I was absolutely shocked.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Second prospect is probably Austin Meadows. Moderadores por favor, hagan su trabajo.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Lol could you imagine. Pirates fans would freak out.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Nice move for today and future. Hutchison not a high price, he hasn't been close to being the same pitcher since TJS. Does Sanchez go to 'pen or does Estrada go to DL?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 How the f*** did they squeeze that much from Hutch???
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Pirates fans would freak out. Meadows is probably the top or second best position prospect in the game lol.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 So does Liriano go to the pen ? No way.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Nice move for today and future. Hutchison not a high price, he hasn't been close to being the same pitcher since TJS. Does Sanchez go to 'pen or does Estrada go to DL? His best season was his season directly after his 2012/2013 TJS recovery.

Does Sanchez go to 'pen or does Estrada go to DL? Current moves is Carerra to DL and Shultz up to the majors... Weird do we have space for the 2 pitchers and Liariano? Who stays up from Feldman and the Dodgers guy?

So 17 mil is Liriano's remaining salary? And 2.3 is Hutch's? How did you reach that number with Hutch? 2.3 is his salary this year. What will it be next year? Will he be Arb 2?

King Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Mike Wilner @Wilnerness590 27s27 seconds ago Atkins: Liriano and two prospects to #Bluejays for Hutchison. #Pirates can't get a hold of one of the prospects, so can't announce.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Guys, we are buying Liriano low. He had three straight pretty good years, his K rate is still up there so stuff is still good. I hate the "what have you done lately" with today's sports fans. Bunch of f***ing loogans
