Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Beltre made a poor throw to him, he caught it like inches off the ground. He had to make a low throw to have any shot at the DP. It also didn't help that Bautista was just starting his slide a few feet from the bag and going on his way down, when he should have already been on the ground. If he slides normal that ball is nowhere near him. It's kind of embarrassing. Bautista got punked, and now fans are grasping at straws like Odor was trying to hit Bautista, with zero evidence, while ignoring the fact that Bautista started he slide ontop of the bag, going a good 5-6 feet past it. If he was sliding into the bag and not past it that ball is nowhere near him. I'm not commenting on Odor's intent, but Jose started his slide well before the bag and was in sliding position when the ball almost hit his face. Let's not make this out to be Hal McCrae 2.0. He probably could have made it a legal slide had he reached back and grabbed the bag.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I saw Donaldson's post game interview and can I say that he handles the media really well? I don't think I've seen him dodge a question, nor f*** up an answer to a question. Honest and down to earth answers
admin Site Manager Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Wow really does look like he tried to hit him in the face. He's almost throwing it straight down at him. http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1027751
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Some guy in my Facebook feed, all separate posts. Because I guess he was struggling to encapsulate his sentiment in just one or two. At least Bautista slid at the bag, instead of off to the side and going at someone's ankles before starting a slide. Jose Bautista is a dirty player how dare they let him on the field "every rangers player and fan". Odor isn't dirty he is a good player, ok there buddy. As they said it on South Park "BLAME CANADA" #TexasRangers need to be wearing a dress for the rest of the season. This guy on Twitter is a legit dummy. When has Bautista ever been a dirty player, oh I guess when he kicked in the back door and blasted a home run down your throats. Look at #Odor run after throwing a punch little man syndrome lol #Odor and #Rangers are the biggest jokes of the #MLB #Toronto #BlueJays #WeTheNorth #BatFlip #sorrynotsorry #nocryinginbaseball #ESPN It all started with Rangers pitcher Matt Bush throwing inside and hitting Bautista. Texas Rangers want to start something and the cry when Blue Jays come with an answer. Pillar and Donaldson went crazy going after Odor Lol Greg Zaun saying Odor trying to protect himself. How, he started the shoving and punching match. #SportsNet get Zaun off the tv already Odor and the Rangers are biggest cry babies in baseball Texas still upset with @JoeyBats19 bat flip, suck it up girls #rangers everyone bat flips you big cry babies. Grow a pair #BlueJays #Toronto The only thing big in #Texas is the towels to wipe their tears after playing #bluejays. Odor is a chump. #toronto #rangers What Odor you can't handle and good hard clean slide. Man up kid there no crying in baseball #rangers are cry babies #toronto #bluejays #MLB I pointed out that he is an idiot and was informed that I'm a "Bautista hater" and his other friends also jumped in. Including the gem "you should have your team's back no matter what." This is why I hate knowing people irl who are baseball fans, in the loosest possible meaning of that phrase.

What exactly did you expect? I find that pointing out to anyone that you feel they are an idiot would hardly ever illicit a gracious response - maybe Bautista or Odor should have tried that instead
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I keep looking at this and laughing all over again. It's also reminded me of his AMA that someone once linked me to that had this gem: Hi, Jose. Just one thing. My best friend in the world is an amazing guy. He's the best father and husband I've ever known to his wife and son. He's the only friend I've ever had that's never stabbed me in the back in the near 16 years that I've known him. Why am I telling you this? Because you're his hero. You always have been. He has spent so much money on your cards and other memorabilia that he probably could have put a few kids through college with it. It would mean the world to me if you could just acknowledge this post and say something to my best friend Brad. It would make his year. Thank you, Mr. Canseco His response: brad what a bad boy u have become
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Odor also got Donaldson in the face: Not really looool go see the video replay that was literally Donaldson running to a fist before spearing all the Rangers in the area down. Unless this happened later or something

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Also on Matt Bush... Some of you idiots are claiming he's "a changed man" and "deserves a second chance" Well he just drilled a guy in the ribs with a fastball in his 2nd major league game. He's still a piece of s***.
ProfessionalAtBat Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Odor is a freaking 22 years old young punk. He will get beat the f*** out soon Dirty SOB
ChrisS Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 To be fair, Bannister had the whole thing planned and given the way Bush's career and life has been, if Im him I have to follow the order to throw.

Statman Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 What is overlooked in this situation is Bautista's selfishness. This team can't afford giving free outs and down by a run in the 8th and Bautista feels he needs to violate the slide rule to get retribution on a player that had nothing to do with the situation leading up to it. Also, this series with Dale Scott and his crew of incompetents was just another gong show in the umpiring world of Major League Baseball. The umpiring IMO has never been worse. They are so bad at their jobs.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 Not to justify things but when was the last time EE beat out a DP? Game 3 of the season when Jose's attempt to cheat by grabbing Forsythe's ankle ended the game on the spot. A good snapshot of the season to this point actually.

Only time will tell if he's a changed man or not. He's paid his debt to society and he's getting a fresh start. Time will tell whether he f***s it up or not but as a society, we should be rooting for his rehabilitation not endlessly condemning for a crime whose punishment he's already served. b. The beaning was obviously Bannister's call and Bush had no leverage to refuse him. If you want to use this as another excuse to pile on Bush go ahead but it's completely gratuitous on your part.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 The unwritten rules of baseball are so far ingrained in the game that there was no way Bautista wasn't going to get plunked at some point this season against the Rangers. I think a lot of people here are down-playing the whole bat-flip thing to: It wasn't like he just flipped his bat out of excitement, the bat-flip was a total F-U to the Rangers and done what I think was mocking manner. Bautista's a fiery guy and he gets angry, and when he's angry- watch out, but if you show up a team like that you're gonna get drilled. what's ironic is the Rangers broke the unwritten rules by waiting until Jose's last at bat this season v. the Rangers to plunk him. On one hand I hate unwritten rules...on the other, this seems cowardly.
Smokey Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 What I'm most disappointed in is the way Jose handled himself right after getting shoved. So you're upset about getting plunked and slide aggressively into second, have words with the guy you just tried to take out and once he puts his hands on you then it's clearly f***ing on! Wtf are you doing going back at him with your chin up and your hands still open?? Wtf did you expect to happen?? Pretty embarrassing to see the face of franchise (at least for now) getting clocked like that by a little bitch. Glad to see Pillar and JD showing some heart at least though.
