Effit Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 No idea how to post tweets, but @BlueJayHunter has a good GIF of Donaldson.
King Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Was the throw on target at first? Crappy picture but the white spec next to the ump is the ball. He had to jump out of the way so it wouldn't hit him. http://i.imgur.com/VBVcsgC.png
BigRed Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I highly doubt Odor had the time to think about hitting Bautista with the ball. Ya no kidding. It's like people are trying to pin pre-meditated murder on the guy. He caught the ball at his ankles and was trying to make the play at first. Meanwhile Bautista starts his slide practically on the bag and slides halfway to the outfield, but Odor is the bad guy here.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 It did look like he tried to throw the ball at him. edit: i put in a higher quality video Jose got his ass kicked. Odor clocked him pretty solid. looks like it dazed Jose.
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 There was a wide angle that was on the very first replay of the fight that you can see Donaldson swing for Odor's jaw before he (supposedly) pinned him down. JD misses and Odor catches JD before they go down and Odor scurries away from bottom of pile up

The slide was dirty and the punch was dirty. I don't know if the throw was intentional or not. Does that make you happy?

Not at Odor but at Bautista, so he gets elbowed and he went in hard on a dirty player and he still let his guard down???? Come on man
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 On Baseball Tonight, they guys said as a 2nd baseman you react by throwing the ball at the slider when in that tight.
BigRed Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 The slide was dirty and the punch was dirty. I don't know if the throw was intentional or not. Does that make you happy? I don't think the punch was really dirty. It was a baseball brawl. Punches sometimes get thrown in fights. Don't make a ridiculously late slide into a guy of Odor's character, then puff your chest out while yapping, and wonder why you get slapped into next week.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 JD misses and Odor catches JD before they go down and Odor scurries away from bottom of pile up He scurried away???? Oh man there goes the idea of Donaldson beating him in When do we face KC? lol
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 It did look like he tried to throw the ball at him. edit: i put in a higher quality video That was a dirty slide. If Bautista had of gotten Odor's leg then Odor could have been injured. Bautista wasn't justified in a late slide past the bag. Odor had a reason to be angry and if Bautista had of gotten up and walked away then Odor wouldn't have had a chance to swing at him. Did this really all happen because of Bautista's bat flip last year. Surely, the actual home run that caused them the game was more annoying (and the 3 errors in the infield).
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I am sorry for this stupid "USA" chant s***, I never understood it. I remember one time I was at a highscool football game in Texas and this team from Texas.... about 20 minutes down the road from the home team, home team returns a punt for a touchdown and the whole stadium starts chanting "USA!!" across the field to the visiting fans haha morons. It's a weird thing. I've mentioned this before, but it once happened during a Sabres/Flyers game. I still don't understand it.

It was dirty, but there's nothing wrong with being dirty. I don't mind what Odor did - actually I am happy he did what he did. It was just so very pussy of them to do it in the last regular season AB Bautista had. We played 7 games and they waited until the second last inning of the last game to respond to an action Bautista did last year. And this isn't even on the players, the call came from the dugout -- matt bush wasn't on the team last year to have a problem with Bautista, this was purely Bannister
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Dyson decked Martin and may have hurt himself on the way down. As if I needed any more reason to hate that ugly f***.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I highly doubt Odor had the time to think about hitting Bautista with the ball. You clearly have never played hockey where split second decisions are made all the time, including to give it to someone. I am sure Odor knew exactly who was coming and decided to try and hit him. This s*** happens all the time in sports.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 As a side note, the Blue Jays are 5.5 games back of Boston and Baltimore with almost 1/4 of the season over. You're right it's over. Time to pack it in
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 i'd like to take this time to post my favorite Donaldson gif: http://i.makeagif.com/media/10-13-2015/LD15XE.gif
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 It did look like he tried to throw the ball at him. edit: i put in a higher quality video Yeah I think he tried to catch him off the head. That angle also shows that if Odor doesn't get the right foot up at exactly that time Bautista would have caught it good.

I'm not too worried, we were .500 with around 1/4 of the season left and we took it to the ALCS. We have a strong starting foundation. We need one or two BP pieces and the offence to wake up. Maybe Odor knocked the offence back into Bautista. Tulo's starting to heat up and both Pillar and Saunders are doing well. Time for the middle 4-5 to pick up the slack
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 No idea how to post tweets, but @BlueJayHunter has a good GIF of Donaldson. Is it this one?

Bautista's slide is late, if he didn't slide late his head wouldn't have been at ball level. You guys need to lay off Odor a bit here, Bautista slid with the intentions of hurting him, I'm happy Odor let it all out on him. Wish it happened with a few games left in the season between the two tho
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Is it this one? So he swung and missed (which is something he's doing well with this season) and then took all 4 down LOOOOL
BigRed Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 It was dirty, but there's nothing wrong with being dirty. I don't mind what Odor did - actually I am happy he did what he did. And this isn't even on the players, the call came from the dugout -- matt bush wasn't on the team last year to have a problem with Bautista, this was purely Bannister The Jays were no better, Chavez went right after Fielder. It's not like they were playing in Toronto and it was the bottom of the 9th when they hit Bautista or something -- the Jays had time to retaliate and Chavez did. Like I said in my original post, it wasn't surprising that it happened (Bautista being pitched at). Dyson / Rangers felt he pimped the HR, so it was probably just a matter of time. I feel like there was a time when a player knew he showed a guy (or a team) up and knew he was going to get pitched at, that playet just manned up and took it, and moved on. Bautista isn't that guy though, and it gets him in more trouble that it's worth. Last year with the Os and throwing out his arm, and now the likely collateral suspensions to his teammates on a team that's below .500. I just can't defend Bautista anymore. Whether it was a few years ago when he was notorious for arguing balls/strikes and people just said "he's competitive", or now being at the centre of every brawl -- he just needs to check his ego and play ball.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 no idea how Pillar didn't get tossed out. he was one of the more "active" jays in the brawl. Jose's slide is dirty but after that he couldn't even protect himself. Was Jose saying "please don't let me go I don't want to get hit again" to Beltre?

Wish it happened with a few games left in the season between the two tho he's clearly trying to hit him with the throw..... Bats is breaking up the double play. I've seen a slide like that a million times with no punches thrown. if JB was trying to hurt Odor, believe me Odor would be limping badly right now
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Is it this one? That's the one. I had missed that for some reason even though I've re-watched several times.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Smoak and Rivera appear to see Donaldson coming and realize...oh s*** we have to get in there. Oops too late
