No, that's why he spun so many curves today. It worked in the past, he also used the 4SF to get K's with that curve, something's happening.

Thanks for that. That's actually what I was hoping to hear.

He needs to use all of his pitches. That's when he is at his best. The sinker needs to stay the dominant pitch, but used less than he has been. With his height he knows it's smart to use a sinker. He just needs to realise he can't throw it 70+% of the time. Using the 4 seam more will male his offspeed pitches that much better.

Excellent article here on how to fix Stroman.

http://jaysfromthecouch.com/2016/06/09/pitch-execution-future-progress-toronto-blue-jays-starter-marcus-stroman-mlb-analysis/

Cliff notes:

- Scrap Cutter and Change-up

- Reduce Sinker usage

- Increase Slider, Curve, 4SM usage

Martin and Stro have forgotten more about pitching that anyone on this board knows. Still, I find it funny that that's what many of us have been saying since the start of the year. Even Buck is flapping about it.

Watching the good hitters approach him, it just seems f***ing obvious to me they have gotten better at laying off low s***, and are making him bring it up or BBing. He is working down and away so often he eliminates most of the plate for the hitters. That's never a good thing. He needs to elevate and come in more often.

I saw him pitch up a bit today and that was encouraging. I don't like the cutter to RHH because he misses too often out over the plate and it gets mashed. Still think he needs a change but shelve it for now. He was better today but it was the Phillies.

Martin maybe. Stroman obviously doesn't actually know very much about pitching. You hear it all the time, "I had to become more of a pitcher and less of a thrower" - the pitchers who are talented enough to make it to MLB usually just blow it by everyone and don't have to actually learn how to pitch until they get to the point Stroman is at right now

Stro now leading the league in innings pitched.

While he has been pretty underwhelming... I don't think that his ability to eat innings can be discounted. We needed someone to step up and provide innings after papa Buehrle left us and Stro has picked up some of the slack.

Everything will even out by the end of the year. He's still very valuable.

You seem to forget he's still a good pitcher even with the heavy 2 seam usage.

Bruh are you not listening to Thanos, Stroman needs to go. He's not listening to articles on random baseball websites which means he has a bad attitude, has nothing to do with him being young or just getting to 30 starts in the Majors. The Jays should be looking to trade him or demote him and completely rebuild him ala Roy Halladay. The faster he is off this team and Hutch is brought up the better we will be.

First bad stretch of short career and theres suggestions Stroman is a flop basically...same people who in April and May were writing the season off. I do think Stroman is overrated, agree on pitch selection. Seems hes changing or has changed to more of contact FB/GB hitter vs Ks which will be better for his career longterm imo. From an eye test perspective, hes a 3-4 guy in the rotatiion, nothing that prob hasnt been said already.

I don't think he's overrated... He was one of the top starters in baseball in 2014. He's gotta work out his pitch selection though, and get back to being a strikeout pitcher. At his best, I think he's a borderline 1/2 starter.

I could see it :(.

I'm hoping he's strikeout Stroman today and we see this line:

7.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 8 K, 1 BB

Wonder if Thanos will comment about not throwing 4 seams up in the zone. He has so far and hasn't helped him.

Are trying to put up residence on my nut sack or something?

In all fairness you would not shut up about that

Is Stroman actually getting hit hard or are people overreacting to bip luck? His ratios are fine

I think there were 7 balls hit over 99MPH so its not like it was just pure BABIP luck. His curveball looked really good at times which was nice to see. Consistency wasn't really there though and FB command inside the K-zone wasn't good.

It's not like what I was saying was off the mark or anything. It's frustrating and pointing out easily correctable flaws in his approach, I would think, is more tolerable than trolling pessimism like "Stroman is horrendous and has no future" or "Stroman is Ricky Romero" when they are nothing alike.

He got smashed. Plenty of two-strike 2SM turning into hard contact, you know, the usual.

80% of your f***ing posts have the words "2 seamers" in it. Its f***ing annoying.

IDGAF what annoys you, if you're that annoyed or perhaps enamored with my posts, maybe you should put me on ignore?

reminds me of hutch last year. Everyone would fap over his fip but was actually just pitching trash. stroman is no different. id rather see hutch up here right now for a couple starts and let stroman fix his mechanics in triple a
