Does the StroShow blow?

I think part of it is Gibbons leaves him in too long as well. His numbers the 3rd and 4th time through the order are worse relative to what an average pitcher loses in effectiveness. Being a smaller guy maybe he fatigues more quickly.

 

He threw more 4 seams than 2 seams today and only 3 changeups so its naive to say his struggles are strictly pitch selection. Curveball was the best I've seen since 2014 so that gives me optimism. He's also faced some pretty damn good offences of late. With a couple of off days coming up perhaps that helps him. Let him have a few more starts then see where he's at. Still a hell of a lot better than Dickey.

I will say it again, his height is part of the issue andand he does not have Pedro's stuff. He will make an adequate starter, his starting career is going to be short lived.

It could mean all those things, a couple, or none. But mostly it probably means the GM isn't going to throw his young starter under the bus in the middle of a season that is otherwise going well for the rest of the squad. I'd say it's likelier that there's something up with Stroman than not. Maybe not injury-wise, but lots of his pitches look weak and ugly and predictably get clobbered. It could just be an enormous rut.

How can you say this has to do with height when he hasnt been throwing 4sm that much AND his 4sm isnt the pitch that's getting clobbered? You're just using anything to justify your point.

Dude threw conventional pitching out the door, doesn't locate, doesn't set up his pitches well ofcourse he's getting smacked. 2sm sinker will never have an effective sequence unless they're hackers like the Rays.

Sure he's been throwing more 4sm lately, but has he been hitting the corners of the plate? Has he been pitching in to set up the pitch on the outer half? Has he been throwing the high fastball to setup the curve in the dirt?

Not consistently NO. He is too often a step behind the hitter. Martin isn't helping either. I think Navarro called a more intelligent game honestly.

You threaten to beat someone unconscious on the street for insulting you and then ask them to grow up because this is a public forum? While you were beating them on the street would that not be a public venue?
