So the wife and I are planning a trip down to the states and I've convinced here to book it around a Blue Jays road trip. They play in New York and Baltimore in August.

The plan is to go down on a Thursday and if in NY go to a Mets game on Friday and then do the Yanks/Jays series on Mon/Tues/Wed. The same would be true for Washington. Head to a Nats game on Friday and then Baltimore for Mon/Tues/Wed but travelling back to Washington after every game. Cause who the f*** wants to stay in Baltimore.

I've been to NY on numerous occasions but never got to catch a game there. Always ended up at the same Irish pub and the wife has never been. So that being said, which one would you choose?

I differ. I think watching Bryce Harper live makes that choice for you alone. Plus, Baltimore has a gorgeous park and it's not located in the ghetto. You also have the bonus of watching the Jays beat a s***** team among all the s***** fans of that s***** team. Sounds like an easy choice to me.

But what if he can watch Synderlander pitch instead? And watch his blond mane blow in the wind.

But he might get the chance to watch Syndergaard pitch <333

Also lol at the difference between New York and Baltimore.

But if he goes to Baltimore he might have the chance to be part of a riot, and get to do some looting!

You should also keep in mind that Washington DC is almost as big a shithole as Baltimore is. No need for that commute if you go that route.

whhutttt??? I've been to Washington several times in the last 10 years... it's pretty damn nice. Went there last fall, had a hotel within walking distance of the capitol... Wife did the marine corps marathon... I am a runner as well so I did a couple of runs from our hotel. It was great. Could do a nice running route that around the capitol, and the mall, and pop by the white house as well... felt safe the entire time.

Walked from Arlington to the capitol one day, felt safe the entire way. Also gone for conventions... stayed near convention center and it was fine...

Maybe there are bad areas I haven't been to, however my experiences in Washington have been very positive.

Yeah I'm leaning towards New York, even though I've been there's bunch of times I've never seen much. Yankee stadium is just so f***ing expensive. I never thought that Washington was a s*** hole

I think the areas outside of the Capitol, White House, and other government buildings and monuments are super sketchy.

New Columbia Heights is very trendy right now.

DC isn't so bad. Lots of touristy s*** to see but if you don't give a s*** about American history it might not be that great.

I would say NY, too scared to walk outside in Baltimore.

You know the sad thing is Baltimore was worth visiting once upon a time. I went there many years ago and saw Fort McHenry, Camden Yards and ate a great seafood dinner at a pictureeseaside restaurant.

Now you'd only want to go there with a bodyguard retinue, flak jacket and bullet-proof glass on your vehicle.

I was actually took quite a few American history and poli sci courses in university so that's why I thought it may be cool. Still leaning towards NYC. I would love to see Harper play, though.

If you choose NY - call and see if you can get tickets for the stadium tour...

Personally, I've neen to NYC twice and I wouldn't go back....my next city trip will be to Washington....that said, your trip seems to be all about the baseball...Yankee Stadium is pretty sweet, but isn't the atmosphere s*** now as fans aren't filling it because Jeter is gone and they don't know the players names anymore? Last year there were only Jays fans in the seats after the 7th inning...

And the tickets are so f***ing expensive. Tix behind the visitors dugout in Baltimore are something like a third the price

If seeing different yards means something to you I'd recommend doing the WAS/BAL swing. Camden Yards is one of the nicest parks in baseball, couple that with the surrounding area of the park being beautiful and offering a myriad of dining options. The Nats park is also nice, and Washington would offer a ton of different things to do there as well.

Plus, the Phills are at home vs the Nats on the Mon, Tues, Weds when the Jays play the Orioles. So if seeing other teams or yards interests you, you could make the 2.5 hour drive from Washington to Philly and forego one of the Jays/ Orioles games and take a game in at Citizen's Bank.

New York's an attraction on it's own that draws people and you can plan a trip in the future and catch a Mets & Yanks game while you're there.

^ This is a really good idea. I think seeing Washington and Baltimore's parks, and perhaps seeing Citizen's Bank, is more of a baseball trip. If you are an American history/political guy, I think Washington will be well worth while.
