Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 How hard is it to get pot now? I was in highschool more than a decade ago and it was far easier to buy weed than alcohol. Legalization isn't enabling more people to smoke weed. Anyone interested in smoking is already doing it. Legalizing it gives tax dollars to the government, makes sure that the product itself doesn't contain anything dangerous, or some unspecified fillers of an unknown quantity, and stops wasting money on trying minor drug offenders. Harper loved wasting money putting harmless people in jail.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Pot is not worse than alcohol and tobacco, period. Actually that's not true. Pot is worse than Tabacco in that it affects the activity in the frontal lobe. Tabacco doesn't Pot changes your perception of events drastically , changes social inhibitions, affects memory pathways in the hypothalamus, and impacts thinking and feeling. You are not the same person you are on pot or alcohol. Tabacco is different. It is an stimulant and nothing more.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Marijuana is not physically addictive in the same way as tobacco, alcohol or many narcotics prescribed by doctors everyday. Lol actually it is addictive in exactly the same way. Both psychologically and physiologically While fewer % of users will become dependant on marijuana than Tabacco, the rate of marijuana addiction is actually greater than alcohol. 2-4% of social users will develop Alcohol addiction while 9% of users will develop cannabis addiction. Of course rates are higher for nicotine but they are all addictive in the same way
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 You're right. And every notable source not slobbered on by Marc Emery cites recreational marijuana use largely a negative contributor to mental health. Oil baron that stands to gain millions from sweeping global warming under the rug: A lying scumbag that will destroy our planet in favor of greedy short term gains. Marc Emery and his ilk, who stand to gain millions from legalization of pot: Oh, they seem legit with no selfish motives, let's believe everything they say. Let's just call the pot movement for what it is. A group of common business interests banning together behind some popular social movement based much more on feelings than on facts, and a government that sees an easy tax grab and a chance to look "progressive". Any legitimate medical benefit from marijuana should obviously be followed up on to the maximum extent possible. But that's not what this movement is about. The ideal utility of marijuana in medicine would have absolutely no recreational impact whatsoever. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that recreational marijuana is bad for your health. It's not even clear if medicinal marijuana is a net positive in a lot of cases. Many 'respected' scientists concluded that tobacco was good for you for a long time as well. In the end though, it doesn't matter. This is Canada and people are free to do what they wish if it doesn't hurt others, period. That's why I support legalization. The one worry I have is a reliable test for drivers. In my limited experience, my motor skills are far more impaired after a few puffs than after 4-5 drinks.

labadee Verified Member Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Pot is not worse than alcohol and tobacco, period. that's not true at all. cannabis smoke contains around 3x the amount of tar found in tobacco smoke and 50 percent more carcinogens. also a lot more of it is getting into the lungs because a lot of joints are hand rolled and without filters. the one thing going for cannabis smokers is that they tend to smoke less than tobacco, but comparing head on, it's no comparison, it is worse. now as a doctor, i do find marijuana an intriguing topic as i believe there is credible evidence for symptomatic effects, but to ignore the consequences is just pure ignorant. i am aware there are many ways to consume marijuana, but even still there are so many s*** effects, you can't dismiss it as being safe.
leaffie Verified Member Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 While I am not going to get into the pros of marijuana, medical or otherwise. I will tell you that dying of lung cancer, is a hideous way to die. And most medical reports now seem to hold that smoking or exposure to second hand smoke is the leading cause. I know that when you are young, a few years of your life expectancy seems like nothing. But when you are 68, they are very important. My husband went from a healthy, active 230 lb, giant of a man. In eight weeks, he lost 40 lbs, was dragging an oxygen hose everywhere, and was a shadow of his former self. The pain was excruciating. Please do not smoke!!!!
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 ^ all of alcohol, smoking and weed are bad for you

Studies have indicated that smoking Cannabis does not cause lung cancer. I'm not sure how a doctor can claim tobacco smoke to be safer than cannabis smoke. One is a proven killer while the other is not. "As for physical effects, according to The Washington Post (link is external), a study reported at the American Thoracic Society International Conference found no connection between marijuana and lung cancer — even with regular and heavy marijuana smokers. This is stunning, when you consider that this is a drug that is typically smoked." How many s***** side effect to your patients get from the pharmaceutical drugs prescribed to them on a regular basis?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 IMO breathing any smoke into your lungs on a regular basis is probably going to make you way more predisposed to cancer, although I don't think pot smoke is quite as toxic as cigarettes. Vaping pot is probably extremely safe.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 So what exactly is the priority for Shapiro then? Why was he hired? Revenue and profits from the Jays highly correlate to on field success and he hasn't exactly lit it up from that perspective Happ Estrada and Chavez are great and all but I reckon we are at least an ace and a shut down reliever from any serious contention

When you consider the studies that say marijuana kills cancer cells this makes a lot of sense. How could the same drug that kills cancer cells cause them?
crazy47larry Verified Member Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 so is RC getting a jays head shop & weed lounge or what? when trudeau legalizes it the dome should have the worlds largess hotbox.

Many different substances in the same plant do many different things. They're also administered in different ways. Consider the fact that you have countless e. coli bacteria in your body, but if any get in your upper digestive tract then you could die. Science is rarely black and white.

Usage rates amount young adults is far less than in countries like canada and the US, who have vilified the drug to no end. In my experience, people that are deftly against something as relatively harmless as Marijuana are victims of larger systematic brain washing. Harper would be proud of you!

People don't have to hid in their basement to smoke it now. It's probably very little difference with actual usage.

I guess people who use in private wouldn't go to an hospital from an overdose Significant increase in traffic accidents due to intoxication from marijuana Colorado's teen marijuana usage is 50% higher than natinal average. These are not small sample sizes either. Oh yeah the whole state smells like weed.
