DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 MLB.com has Harris at 80 and Alford at 97 as there only two in the top 100. So I guess there could be an argument made for 4-5. (Alford, Greene, SRF and Harris (very questionable). Harris ahead of Alford and as the system's #1 prospect? How does that make any sense?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 That isn't necessary at all. The Cubs had a s*****, expensive team, with no prospects. We have a substantial base of young talent to build off of and a top 3 team in the majors. Wut? lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Funny reading this... so much changes, we can all have a laugh. The top 20 hasn't moved too much besides positions, and Smith needs to go.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 lol So we should do a total teardown and rebuild like the Cubs started a few years ago? I'm not sure what part you take issue with.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Plus this thread is a parody, really... who has the 8 ball, or the Sports Almanac, it's no big f***ing deal.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Are you f***ing kidding me. Putting Anthony Alford this team number one prospect. This guy has done nothing to be put as the blue jays top prospect. Which tells me most of you have no idea of what you are talking about. And I'm surprised king agrees with this. This guy was drafted four years ago. Should be hitting alot better then a .236 avg. and not striking out 117 times. In 359 at bats. And this is your number one prospect. Are you all blind. This is the same group of people that are bitching about Russell Martin hitting the ball. He's been with the team now what two or three years and made the playoff twice already. todd has spoken. Alford is a non prospect. It's time to move on. Maybe he has a future in the CFL.

Just out of curiosity where would you rank a 20 year who moved from A to High A with a combined line of .298/.398/.421 with 27 SB's in 34 attempts. With 4 HR's. 22% K-Rate and 13.7% BB rate. Projected Solid CF "D" and elite athleticism. If this person existed in the Jays system right now, what range would you slot this person into?

I feel like Todd would want to know too! This said 20 year old play football or not?

This said 20 year old play football or not? Yes, and it was last years slash line for Alford. Ranking him #1 at the time this list was complied was very defensible.
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 No actually that is what he hit this year. .236 batting avg. 117 strike outs in 359 at bats not to mention he what down two leagues or classes. This thread was from a year ago Todd.
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 No actually that is what he hit this year. .236 batting avg. 117 strike outs in 359 at bats not to mention he what down two leagues or classes. This prospects list was made last December. Alford was the consensus #1 because he was a 20 year who moved from A to High A with a combined line of .298/.398/.421 with 27 SB's in 34 attempts. With 4 HR's. 22% K-Rate and 13.7% BB rate. Projected Solid CF "D" and elite athleticism. He struggled this year due to injury in the 1st half, played through a knee injury and then had a concussion from an outfield collision. From April to June 10th he hit .205/.277/.262. When he came back from his concussion on June 22nd he hit .253/.376/.438, 141 wRC+ until the end of the season (September 8th). Also, moving down 2 levels from MLB spring training doesn't mean anything. He was invited there to get some experience in big league camp, he was not playing regular games at the MLB level. Next year will be the big test since he will almost certainly be starting in New Hampshire.
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I get a kick that one of todd's major arguments against Alford is that he got moved down two levels from major league spring training
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I get a kick that one of todd's major arguments against Alford is that he got moved down two levels from major league spring training I have no idea if Todd is real, or just a character created by someone... I know Hurl is against asking too many questions about the various re-occurring characters, but I like to know if I am talking to a real person, or a fictional character). That being said Alford's season was a dissapointment, it may have been caused by injury. If he is healthy and performs in aa he will rocket, not only to the top of our list, but way up on league wide lists. The upside is huge here. Especially with modern player evaluation. His baserunning and defense could be awesome. His hitting is intesting. His walk rates seem really high for a guy without powers.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I've said it before but as near as I can tell Todd is just Todd.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Or you know... he's not King. Wasn't there like a lady who had like irrational hate for Aaron Hill?? I can't remember the entire thing, but even when Hill did OK she hated him, maybe something personal I don't know. Todd is like that with Alford. By all means put him 15 or 20 if you don't believe in the skill set, but 105?? It's like the entire purpose of the 105 is just to get Alford as low as possible, to really put some hate on him. If Todd is real, Alford must of dissed him somehow. Maybe didn't give an autograph to his kid (if they are real).
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Or you know... he's not King. Sorry, my mind is made up. You know I don't budge when that happens. King will pay for his treachery.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 The numbers I put up for Anthony Alford are for this year. But this team have a lot more players coming from the lower levels of they farm team. That people should be watching with more upside to them. For Example Noberto Obeso Randy Pondler Wilfri Aleton Luis De los Santos just some names to watch for they is more but people on here don't like lists. Noberto Obeso is old for his level. He was dropped 7 levels from MLB. He is only a year younger than Alford. I hope Obeso goes to Lansing (dropped 4 levels) and is promoted quickly if he continues to hit. Obeso is not a teenager and needs to play ball with men, if he fails so be it, at least we know.
metafour Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Noberto Obeso is not to old for this league. He's the same age as most players are. And he's rising fast though the system. And Anthony Alford is falling fast. Be lucky to be on most teams top 60 prospects. 21 years old playing in a league for 17 year old IFA signees making their NA debuts and 18 year old HS kids moving out of their parents houses for the first time...."not old for the league". OK Todd.
