So is Westhead a reliable source? That reads a lot like someone pulling something out of his ass.

Yeah I'm not sure where these comments are coming from. It all sounds pretty over the top

AA should have been "scolded" for that. Now his successor will be left with a barren upper minors and a team whose core is in their 30's. A change needed to be made.

...and the best offense in baseball all coming back next year. But, yeah, that farm system!

Would be nice to have a WS caliber team in the 20s on good value deals plus a booming farm system but this isn't fantasy land.

They never should have brought in Shapiro as president. AA should have been promoted an autonomous president/GM role, giving AA the ability to continue GM duties until he chooses his own successor. And if this was too much responsibility for AA, they should have hired a separate VP of baseball operations so that AA isn't concerned with ticket sales and concession stands and crap like that.

The only time an organization should ever bring in an outsider to run it is when the organization sees itself going in the wrong direction, and it wants to blow itself up and start over fresh.

The act of taking Shapiro, previously AA's peer, an outsider, and hiring him above AA, was a giant middle finger to AA, and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

Well Shapiro was a president already, not a GM. So I guess you're the idiot

AA has a huge ego and hates being around people smarter than himself. Maybe he can get a job as a first base coach somewhere.

I am betting he ends up with Washington, calls it his Expos roots

The Jays making the playoffs might be the worst thing to ever happen to this board. The casual fans who joined in the last 2 months are suddenly the 'brightest' baseball analysts. IL is gonna be poppin' today

My guess is that Shapiro was furious when he found out that the "BEEST" computer system was actually just a cardboard monitor prop from an Office Depot showroom, and has decided to take it out on everyone involved. This "AA chose to leave" stuff is organizational spin at its finest.

AA - how do you start this program?? Does it work on apple??

Tech guy - It works on Windows, Apple, and even linux.

AA - OK big boy, enough with the techno babble, does it use a mouse??

Tech guy - Yes. It even works from an internet browser. Open up a browser and type in the password... the password is http://www.fangraphs.com

AA - s*** on a stick this s*** is slick

Tech guy - glad you like it...

All that Rogers and Shapiro can reasonably be expected to do is offer AA a fair contract. It sounds like they did that.

Maybe the Marlins are moving to Montreal and we just don't know about it yet?

It seems insane for a guy with AA's relatively small amount of experience to walk away over not getting full and complete control over everything baseball related.

Exactly

It's hard to.imagine him doing this without another job already offered. Who would do that?

AA probably had free reign to to whatever he wanted under Beeston, who probably couldn't have named 10 players outside of Toronto. I'm assuming he hated the idea of being second in command when it comes to actual player decisions.

Shapiro's the new boss, AA couldn't see himself working for him and losing some of the control he had. This is ALL on AA. Now if some players go on record to criticize the front office it will mean likely that they get traded, specially Bautista imo. There will be changes coming up, lets hope they are for the best.

Well that's one way to make an entrance i guess lol

I find it hard to believe that Shapiro came in scolded him and said you can return but only if you ask me to make decesions first. Anyway its pretty clear the organization is going to be completely different. No relationships with the players. Will be interesting to see how this goes.

Dombrowski: "Ah jeez, Ruben. This is so awkward, but we've decided to go with a guy with a bit more AL East experience at first. I'm sure you understand."

I wonder if this played into the Price deal. Maybe AA thought he might leave and figured "better go for it while I still can." I still like the trade anyways but maybe AA plays it safer if he's not emboldened by the possibility of leaving.

Well trade was brilliant but somewhat marred by the fact that the money wasn't re-invested and Napoli was flipped right away.

Also, from all reports it seems like the Angels actually came to AA and all he really had to do was slide his booger filled Dell mouse over and click the 'accept' button in his IE browser.

Beeston - Joe Carter, Roberto Alomar, Jose Reyes.. wait you mean players from other teams?? Do they have to be active?? Clayton Kershaw. that fish guy from L.A. Not Salmon but their new fish guy...

Yeah because I totally said that. f*** off.

You're trying to be sarcastic and it's exactly what you said, lol.

Kansas doesn't have those players yet beat the Blue Jays pretty easily and they made it to the world series last year as well. You are forgetting there are a lot of good players in the league. Price isn't with the team when FA starts. Martin anyone could have signed and he kept Sanchez over Syn. Donaldson was a great trade but I was disappointed with the mets/marlins trades. This team could have had a different makeup with young cheap controllable pitching along with some hitting instead of an expensive yet very good hitting team. The Mets made it that way and they have a pretty solid rotation for a while. AA wasn't perfect by any means and is replaceable.

Yep and the young arms you wanted to keep may have turned into Isringhausen, Pulsipher and Paul Wilson. You can sit there and play the "what if" game all you want man. Best of luck with that.

Internet high fives?

Since you obviously are too ignorant to see it yourself, the Royals are in back to back world series (and probably winning this one) due to their drafting and developing of their farm system. Take your blinders off

No, it isn't. He said the shine of the trade was lessened by the fact that the money didn't actually get reinvested into the on-field product. He didn't blame that on AA.

That's one example. And let's face it, they played in a pretty sh*tty division and are luck boxing through the playoffs.

No it's not. A most it's what you rather ungenerously infered but instead of arguing that, you talk in certainties. You're a prick.

Life was sometimes fun under AA - the big trades; the 2015 season.

But I'm neutral on his departure. About as neutral as his record: 489 - 483. 1 x 5th placed finish, 3 x 4th placed finishes, 1 x 3rd place finish, 1 x 1st place finish. Looking ahead to the 2016 season just sums up the AA engima to me. A killer lineup, yes, but no rotation.

I'd like to have seen AA have another season. To see if he had truly grown in the role of GM as he himself alluded to. But it is what it is, and it's an evens bet that the new GM will leave a better legacy than AA did.

It's irresponsible to not acknowledge the mess he inherited from Riccardi man. C'mon. You're better than that.

The question is WHY was Shapiro chosen as the new boss instead of AA. Either you believe Shapiro is better / smarter / more qualified, in which case you should be happy AA is gone, or you don't believe this in which case you should be pissed that Shapiro got chosen for the job over AA.

some of it was 100% true. This is about Ego. AA wanted the president job and has been grooming Tinnish for GM for at least two years. All the stuff that happened had to dig at AA
