Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 It's possible for someone to be top prospect and be s***** at the same time. That's kind of what player development is - closing the delta between present skills and tool based ceiling. I don't know how you can look at his minor league peripherals and say that they aren't s*****. He walked like 5.0/9 in the minors and his K rate was pretty crummy for a prospect that throws 97. It was poo. Chi-Chi Gonzalez was also a high raked prospect but his peripherals wwere s*** as well. Sanchez isn't a unique case.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 How? They're from here. Fangraphs crowdsourcing isn't perfect but it seems to be a reasonable estimate for what those FA's will get. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-crowd-the-top-82-free-agents/ You seem to be talking out of your ass to try and dismiss pure logic, for what reason? Yer dumn.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Yer dumn. High IQ response there.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 High IQ response there. Hnnngghhh....
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Dude, you continue to dream, with crazy absurd trade offers, this isn't a video game? That's absurd, and unbelievable. My post about your silly dreams is just as tight. FA, is a crap shoot, and I wish you and everyone run with their lifestyle, having family and kids are massive here!! Sorry, I'm out, TRUTH BOMB!!! I don't know what this means? Especially in consideration. Go Away! Yer Dumn!!! It'll never match the budget. Yet your numbers are silly. Yer dumn. Hnnngghhh.... Pure Spanky at his finest.

Smokingjays1111 Verified Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Give up Sanchez plus plus , I think it's doable if Sanchez is indeed a pen arm then the proper thing to do from an asset management prospective is to sell high !
Governator Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 If the Marlins end up trading Ozuna (their young CF who they don't get along with), they would have a hole to fill in CF. There is also talk of them possibly listening on trade offers for Fernandez (why I have no f***ing idea, but they would look for more young controllable talent in return). Not sure if the Jays have the assets to make a play here but the thought of Fernandez in our rotation next to Stroman is kind of fap worthy. Dangling Sanchez & Pompey is probably a start but maybe more of an AA move than a Shapiro move? Fernandez doesn't come without risk but has ace written all over him.

Governator Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Stroman + Alford + Most would say acquiring Donaldson, Price, or Tulowitzky would begin with Stroman too. Maybe we're not as stupid as them.

I'm not certain that parting with a ton of prospect capital for a Boras client is the best use of our assets right now, but if the price is right then go for it.
Governator Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Does anyone else get a broken up http://www.baseball-reference.com/ in Chrome? It seems to be missing all CSS styles but fine in other browsers. Been this way for a few days for me.

Governator Community Moderator Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Donaldson absolutely, but definitely not the other two. fair enough, just saying deals can get done without giving up our best chip.

I'm not saying it was a bad trade for the Jays, obviously, but if/when Barretto is playing like Carlos Correia with 6 years of control come 2017, lets revisit our judgement of the package then.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Would you guys feel comfortable with giving up Sanchez for Chavez
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Lmao. There you go. Sure. Point is you can't fully judge the package yet.

Even if that happens, the Donaldson trade was still excellent
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Sure. Point is you can't fully judge the package yet. I think it's fair to say that Barretto won't become a consistent 7.5 WAR player.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Would you guys feel comfortable with giving up Sanchez for Chavez Hell no. Why would we even consider that?
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Hell no. Why would we even consider that? Your saying that you wouldn't consider trading a relief pitcher with s*** peripherals for an above average starter?
