admin Site Manager Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Kind of lost in all this is that it doesn't sound like Volquez was taking this seriously at all. Good on him for having perspective. Yeah I don't know why he's getting any blame, seems like Cueto trying to put it in his head.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I wish the Man in White wasn't on vacation during the ALDS. Jays might have actually hit Gallardo and Hamels if he was there. Thankfully his Vegas vaca is over and he was able to make it for Game 3.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Are you actually kidding me, though? They change their signs up constantly. There's no way someone could decipher through all the misdirections and fake signs to find the proper pitch and location, and then relay it to the batter in time to actually use the information. It's just so patently absurd. I disagree with this. Bench coaches watch tapes of this kind of stuff in order to gather info for the players. If you get a cerebral player like Jose on second, he's going to figure it out sometimes. They don't make things THAT complicated for the pitcher or the catcher would get crossed up a lot more often than you see. All that being said, it's totally within the rules and the Royals fault. I'm quite certain that they were doing it to Price.
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 He was blaming the mound also. "The mound in the bullpen was higher than the real one," Cueto said through interpreter Pedro Grifol.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 http://www.fangraphs.com/community/devon-travis-sign-stealer-2/ Holy s*** lol
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 How come it didn't work in the first two games
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 He was blaming the mound also. "The mound in the bullpen was higher than the real one," Cueto said through interpreter Pedro Grifol. Good f***, what a crybaby.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 This conspiracy theory is great. It has teams so worried about their signs they're losing focus of what's important. It's like having a fast guy on base all the time.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Good f***, what a crybaby. So happy we didn't give up assets at the deadline for this POS
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 He was blaming the mound also. "The mound in the bullpen was higher than the real one," Cueto said through interpreter Pedro Grifol. Good lord. Is he going to start blaming the mounds in every other ballpark he's played in since he started with KC?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 So happy we didn't give up assets at the deadline for this POS I wouldn't designate him as a POS over this but give it a rest already. The whole concept of stealing signs from the outfield is ridiculous, especially when batters do indeed get fooled by curves and other offspeed stuff all the time
Cookie Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 sign stealing talk already. lol good. I hope it get in their heads and they drop balls and mess up pitches worrying about it.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 He was blaming the mound also. "The mound in the bullpen was higher than the real one," Cueto said through interpreter Pedro Grifol. Eh, it doesn't sound as douchey when you read the entire quote: “It’s a tough environment, but it’s baseball,” Cueto said. “I have to make adjustments and I wasn’t able to make adjustments. The mound was a little high and different from the bullpen mound and I just couldn’t make adjustments. No excuses.”
37stieb Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Not really. There were a fair amount of posters here saying the Royals were stealing signs after the first 2 games. Stealing signs has been around since the dawn of baseball. Sounds like sour grapes. Played ball for years. Our team steals signs. My kids AAA team steals signs. Nothing has changed. The question is how far will a team go to steal signs and pitch locations.
Brenner Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Looks like Kansas is stealing signs, somehow how they know the knuckle ball is coming!
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 f***ing man in white is a double agent
comeon sense Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Is that why Quato kneed Pillar in the head after Pillar scored last night? Piece a garbage!
