Followthelight Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I,m speculating, but i,m pretty sure we will find out after winning the world series that Price was generally tired because of how deep he was going into games for us,and how much Detroit was counting on him up until the trade deadline to keep the Tigers in the race. I highly doubt it.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Beltre questionable for tomorrow: I don't think they would risk a tweak by playing him out there in an unfamiliar turf surface tm (sorry folks, I know y'all had enough mention of that today, including myself), especially now that they've won game 1. Resting him until game 3 and giving him 2 days off seems more sensible.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 They're bringing Gallo to Toronto, must be worried about Beltre's injury being serious. If Beltre hits the DL he can't return until the World Series, if I am correct.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I'm talking about everything. Sitting the 2nd game was a no brainer. But going with that joke lineup the next day? Wasn't a fan of that. Oh, you mean that game with the 3 hour rain delay? Yeah, we should have had all our main guys playing in that game. No risk for injury whatsoever.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Fox must hire all the people that the other networks won't or have and fired. Harold Reynolds is bad. When I say bad I don't mean good. http://i.imgur.com/F79TisN.jpg
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Lets relax. We will game 2 with Stroman. You could see the jitters in our players they should settle in tomorrow.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 My worry is can stroman keep this up? He has only pitched 4 games in a year.....a part of me thinks he is due for a bit of a drop off.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 There are actually many examples of the home team losing the first game and then coming back to win the series (quite often in 3 straight games). Here is the Wikipedia link, if you are interested you can click on the yearly series - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_League_Division_Series. However, what happened in past series between different teams has no influence on what happens in this series. I think if the Blue Jays win tomorrow then they have the ability to win the series in 4 games (3 straight wins). I am glad that the game is early tomorrow so there won't be much time waiting around for it. 5 game series wins in baseball history after losing game 1. 1971 Pirates 72 Reds 73 Mets 73 A's 74 A's 77 Yankees 77 Dodgers 82 Brewers 83 O's 84 Padres (85 to 94 it was all best of 7's) 95 M's 96 Yankees 97 Indians 98 Indians 99 Braves 99 Red Sox 00 Mets 00 Yankees 01 Yankees 01 M's 02 Angels 03 Marlins 03 Red Sox 03 Yankees 04 Yankees 05 Angels 06 Tigers 11 Tigers 11 Rangers 11 Cards 12 Cards 12 Giants That's 33 out of 108 5 game series.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Told y'all the Rangers would handle Price. He's something like 0-4 against them now. 0-6 in post season play.

He has only pitched 4 games in a year.....a part of me thinks he is due for a bit of a drop off. He can have a bad start on any given day just like anyone else I guess, but Stroman has faced some of the toughest hitting teams in the AL over his stretch, the Yankees/Red Sox/Orioles... I haven't seen anything that suggest he'll suddently drop off vs. the Rangers form wise (although I'm sure someone will bring that 9 day rest issue up).
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 You can tell it really irks him to have to say anything positive about Stroman. You can see him struggling with his words to try and give him back handed compliments. He's probably pissed that Stroman came back, proved him wrong, and bumped Buerhle from the playoff roster. That's ridiculous. He said he loves Stroman and is a big fan. His only concern is that he's only had 4 outings and to him it's a small sample size. I don't agree with him, but I'm not gonna freak out about it. Also, this is basically April for Stro. And we all know that quite often, guys get dead arm early in the season. Let's hope that doesn't hit him anytime soon.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Gallardo and Ubaldo are two guys who can stink and still put up a good line against the Jays. I feared Gallardo more than Hamels. He's so mediocre but somehow throws junk that the Jays can't hit.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 0-4 in postseason vs. Texas 1-4 if we include that play in game complete game win he had (I know the play in game is technically part of the regular season, but in reality is no different from something like a Wild Card game).

YOu have to give the edge to Hamels tomorrow on experience in big games alone. The Jays are in real trouble in my opnion an already unhealthy Tulo and Donaldson uncertain for tomorow. But even if they lose this series, which I think they will, It's been an exciting run

But even if they lose this series, which I think they will, It's been an exciting run Really uncertain of what to expect of Hamels tm (his record vs. Jays hitters isn't great, but it's a small sample size), but I have a feeling as long as Stroman can have a quality start vs Rangers tm our offence can do enough vs. Hamels to give us a good chance to win. As for the Donaldson thing I think Rangers have just as much, if not more to worry about with Beltre's injury. Tulo looks to me like he's fine, maybe minus some potential power.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Everyone wondering about why Harold Reynolds has a job...this is the reason http://calltothepen.com/2015/10/08/harold-reynolds-sets-new-career-high-in-irritated-viewers-during-rangersblue-jays-call/ Joe DiMaggio‘s hit streak was impressive, Cal Ripken Jr.’s consecutive-games-played streak was even more so, but perhaps the most unbreakable streak in baseball history is that of MLB Network/FOX Sports commentator Harold Reynolds, who has never failed to irritate baseball fans around the globe every time he opens his mouth. Much like how fans complain about the BBWAA every time they vote on something...Reynolds keeps fans talking. After his ESPN firing in 2006 until 2012 it was just MLB network for him, then Fox saw opportunity with Social media becoming such a factor. His horrible announcing is what keeps him employed.
candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 What s***** atmosphere around the Dome before the game. Nothing special going on. Want a beer? Gotta go to f***ing St. Louis Bar & Grill. So lame.

And we all know that quite often, guys get dead arm early in the season. Let's hope that doesn't hit him anytime soon. Nah he's been on Stroman's ass since we first heard reports of how he was prepping to come join the rotation back in August. He's been just as skeptical as one could be, has said numerous times that he should be in the bullpen and not in the rotation, even now, tried to justify Stroman not being in the top 4 rotation for the playoffs just last week, and tries to go out of his way to overly critique Stroman's starts. As for your second paragraph, Stroman is having his dead arm period right now already, his 4-seamer is still 2-3 mph slower than where it was in mid-season last year. He's been throwing low 90s, topping at 93, when last year he was hitting 96/97 mid-way through his starts.

A bunch of my friends just hung out on the Patio of Jack Astors and walked to the game around 2PM, we had a f***ing blast and inside the Dome was even better, not a f***ing fan in their seat and cheering their face off. Easily the best game I've ever gone to ever, even with the loss.

candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Is this like your first Jays game? It was like any regular season game I've been to. Sorry for expecting more. "First time in 22 years". Thought there would be something going on outside before the game. Was in Detroit for the Lions home opener a few weeks ago. It's was 100x better.

Gotta go to f***ing St. Louis Bar & Grill. So lame. Not the Jays fault. We're not all alcoholics in Ontario. No drinking on the streets. Buy a $5 draft in a bar or GTFO. The atmosphere was great around the Dome. Tons of people, everyone in Jays stuff, and cool food choices (even Kaplanski's food cart was across the street) If you had an issue with the around the dome lack of drinking, that was on you more than on the Jays.
Shogun89 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Price is a guy who can get you to the post season, then gets you out of it in the first round because he gets nervous and chokes. If he was this nervous in game 1, imagine how nervous he'll be with our backs to the wall in an elimination game.

Especially since he's been there several times before.
