bluejays12 Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 The Jays had a pretty awful approach vs. Gallardo. He barely threw any strikes, and the Jays kept on hacking away. Jays were cold which is how Gibbons apparently planned it. What a genius
fireballW Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Big things for me this game was lack of walks against a wild pitcher. This team needs to take the walks until the pitcher gets it in the zone. Seemed like they worked a lot of favorable counts and then got out on some not great pitches to swing at ( even though some of them were strikes). Team should be getting 3 or 4 walks against a guy lime Gallardo.

I don't give a s*** what his xFIP or swstr% was (it was awful) Gallardo made the pitches when they mattered and when he was behind in the count. Obviously the Jays should have scored more runs but he deserves a bit of the credit.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Smoak probably shouldn't be in the lineup. please for the love of god take him out of the lineup.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Well I'm in the camp that wasn't happy to see the team partying and resting for the final week of the season. Probably why they all have the flu right now. what? you're full of s***.

Through the first 3 innings or so Gallardo had 0 swinging strikes. I think losing Donaldson early on in the game kind of deflated the team. We gave 2 at bats to Carrera and Pennington and that could have been the difference in the game.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Time to sound like Wilner and put yesterday's game behind us. It's one game and we weren't going to sweep ourselves to the WS. We got the jitters out, now it's time to get our first postseason win in 22 years. And f*** Hamels, we have Stroshow.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Hopefully Stroman can find it and get it going early. My concern is hes on 9 days of rest while Hamels is on regular rest. Its an absolute must win game. And its pretty much now or never.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Its going to be 17 today. Absolutely no excuse for the roof not to be open.
Jonzo Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I'm going today, I'm trying to get pumped. But I'm pretty deflated from yesterday's game. Hopefully I feel better once down at the park.

fmradioguy Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Stroman was pretty good after a 6 month rest. Have faith. He was on a regular pitching schedule by the time he came up though because of the rehab.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Look either we will win or we win. The playoffs are a crapshot what matters is getting there year after year For Gods Sakes Braves with Maddux Smoltz and Glavine couldn't win year after year
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Stroman was pretty good after a 6 month rest. Have faith. Well that's not true he had his rehab starts and has been pitching on a normal schedule until now. Its not a lack of faith because I do trust in Stroman. But a lot of unknowns going into tomorrow including the health of Donaldson and Bautista. Its scary how much the end of this season has reminded me of the Raptors. Once the Raptors clinched they started resting guys especially Kyle Lowry. They had a chance to finish with a higher seed and 50 wins but opted for rest instead and a lot of people thought they wanted Washington. We all knew what happened to the Raptors. Atleast the first game was close.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I feel like there are a lot of new Trouba accounts in here.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Its going to be 17 today. Absolutely no excuse for the roof not to be open. Supposed to rain today. Sucks, should have been opened yesterday!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Supposed to rain today. Sucks, should have been opened yesterday! It rained last night. My weather app says zero chance of rain this afternoon. But it might again tonight.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 It is basically the season today, we really needed to win game 1 with crappy gallardo and price pitching, still don;t get why e don;t mash gallardo he was trash yesterday. Seemed like every second batter was 3-1 or 2-0 first 3 innings.

To be fair, they were starting to figure him out and Bannister made a very smart call to yank him after 5 and go to his pen.

ProfessionalAtBat Verified Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Bout time GIBBONS put Colabello in the lineup. He should have been in the lineup in the 6th inning of last game

TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Is everyone too afraid to start the GDT today?
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
