Can anyone tell me anything about Max Castillo?

I see he is having a good season, just turned 23 and is 280 lbs. That is all i know.

280 is ok if you're 6'10"

He's 6'2"

I think he's just decent fastball and command and little else but that info might be outdated

No wait he has a splitter or something

Really sucks that Beltre's little brother likely won't be eligible to sign before an international draft is put in place.

Manuel is one of my favorite Jays prospects and it would have been awesome to get his kid brother too.

Little Beltre have 30 teams falling in love with him. The kid is a phenomenon

He can't be Rich Garces until he has a cool nickname like 'El Guapo'.

I'm not surprised. Kid looks like Baby Soto.

Sucks that the Jays will likely have no shot of getting him since they'll probably be near the back of the IFA draft.

Without the draft, they might have had an edge in getting him, considering they gave his brother such a big deal.

Have you heard anything about where he prefers to play, Ang?

I found it, it was Longenhagen:

Just one mans opinion.

Hopefully Beltre has it posted on his fridge, or sun visor, or whatever. Extra motivation.

I believe we also had a scouting report from Ang that suggested he wasn't going to be anything special.

Hottest pitching prospects in each farm system

Blue Jays: Dahian Santos, RHP (No. 28)

Ricky Tiedemann’s ascent through the system and prospect ranks has taken up a lot of attention, but don’t lose sight of what Santos is accomplishing in Single-A Dunedin. The 19-year-old right-hander has struck out 41 batters over 21 2/3 innings in his past five appearances, good for a 50.0 percent K rate in that span. That lack of contact has led to a 0.83 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and .088 average-against over his last 30 days. Santos doesn’t feature a ton of velocity with a low-90s sinker, but his low-80s slider has done more than enough to give Florida State League batters fits.

Prospect Team of the Week

RP: Adrian Hernandez, Buffalo Bisons (Triple-A)

Blue Jays No. 18

0-0, 1 SV, 0.00 ERA, 2 G, 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 0.00 WHIP

Hernandez worked three perfect innings over a pair of appearances to join the Prospect Team of the Week for the second time this season as he continues his dominant work for Buffalo. The right-hander struck out three over two frames on Monday, needing just 20 pitches (and 16 strikes) to do so. On Sunday, he wrapped up his week by striking out one of the three men he faced and throwing eight of 12 total pitches for strikes. Hernandez started the year with three appearances for Double-A New Hampshire and put up a 2.25 ERA while striking out six in four innings. Since his promotion to Buffalo, the 22-year-old has been lights out. Hernandez has allowed just one earned run on three hits over 15 innings with the Bisons, striking out 22 against four walks and posting a 3-0 record to go along with his 0.60 ERA and 0.47 WHIP.

Jimmy Burnette (and his 18.00 K/9) was promoted to AA apparently.

He's pitched 2 innings so far with 4 K's, 1 walk, 0 hits, 0 runs

3 IP now with 6 K's lol

Pretty solid debut

Call him up, has to better than Richards haha

Jeez looks like we got another breakout guy to keep our eyes on. Are we turning into the Rays as far as developing pitching?

Man, if we could figure out swing and miss within the org instead of having to trade for it that would be awesome.

Seems like we are figuring it out at the milb level atleast. Could see a bunch of these guys make big impacts at the mlb level in a year or two.

Don't forget the 5.2 BB/9, that's kinda important too, as is the 5.7 hits per 9. Kinda weird that the guy walks as many guys at get hits off him. Obviously has filthy stuff but the command is clearly an issue.

Weird day for Orelvis. Pop up, K, 2 out 0 on bunt attempt out at 1b, single on ground ball to RF. 2nd game Pop out and flyout to CF. Then taken out 1 inning later

Interesting. If he’s going to get regular PAs, I’m on board. If he’s going to sit around and just get some random innings and PAs here and there…I don’t see the point.

Gabriel Martinez has a fractured left wrist. Explains why he hasn't played since being taken out mid at-bat last week

was he HBP or did it break on its own somehow?

I wonder if he will return this year? Kind of amazingly, he’s rule 5 eligible at the end of this year. It’s probably a stacked enough year that he will slip through tho.

No idea how it happened. It was just mentioned that he has a fractured left wrist in Kaitlyn McGrath's recent column.
