Batspeed for days with Orelvis. He appears to be adjusting to AA nicely and his recent numbers are very encouraging. For the month of May his strikeout and walk rates were 24.2%/9.1% vs 35.8%/1.5% for the month of April. In April he struggled a bit to the tune of a 102 WRC+ vs 180 WRC+ for May, hopefully he can keep it up.

Someone put the BA top ten up on Reddit:

1 Moreno

2 Martinez

3 Tiedemann

4 Groshans

5 Pearson

6 Lopez

7 Jiminez

8 Meza

9 Robberse

10 Juenger

Meza stands out to me as does Juenger. I thought Juenger was a relief prospect albeit a good one.

Zulueata looks poised to explode onto these lists in short order. He had a very good outing tonight for Dunedin, 4-2/3 innings, 10 strikeouts, no runs allowed, only 1 walk, 2 hit batters.

He will. Probably will move up to A+ soon with Pardinho starting some rehab games in A.

Isn't he a 24 year old cuban, and shouldn't he be in the Jays bullpen like in 2 weeks?

I'd put him in aa and if he does good put him in Jays bullpen.

People forget this was the formula that worked to solve 2015 bullpen issues. Osuna and Castro were called up with about the same amount of experience as Zulueata has now, but were only 20. Aaron Sanchez had more experience but was younger at 22.

24 year old Cuban seems like a guy who should be up as soon as he has 2 weeks of success at double a, which was also the formula they used for Gurriel.

HeÂ’s listed as being on a rehab assignment on milb.com but he has already had 3 outings at least which might be long for a rehab assignment? So, that might be wrong.

It all depends on their viability as a starter. Guys who can viably start usually donÂ’t get pushed up into a major league pen until they have shown they wonÂ’t be a starter or they are close, bumping up against inning limits and will be useful for the stretch run. The only team that seems to start guys out in the pen alot (from what I heard, I only follow the jays closely) might be the dodgers? And thatÂ’s because they have way too much talent.

Juenger might be the guy in terms of recently drafted guys who come up quickly into the pen. We could see Hernandez and Danner this year as well.

Probably no chance. He is viewed as a starter with a top arm. When signed out for Cuba he had to have TJ surgery then first game back last year tore his ACL covering first on the first batter. He will work his way up and might be an older prospect, but should move quickly.

If you want to look at a perfect example of a team that put their guys in bullpen first and then they move to rotation.....BREWERS....Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Houser all started in the bullpen, and seems to be doing quite well for them.

Explode is a great way to describe him. He is one exciting prospect.

Haven't seen Zulueta but he has short reliever written all over him. Start him in the minors to regulate his innings but I would want him in the pen as soon as he's ready for the big leagues.

What’s it about him? He has a weird delivery? Too much effort in his delivery? Only has two pitches or one and half pitches?

Aaron Sanchez, Osuna and Castro was also viewed as top starters but Jays called them up as relievers anyway in 2015.

Mixed results. Osuna stayed a reliever because he was good at it right away. Sanchez was a good reliever for a playoff team, then won an ERA title for a playoff team, then his career fell apart.

Would their outcomes have been better if they stayed as starters? Would the franchise have been better off if they had stayed in the minors as starters?

Not sure about the first, but convinced the franchise was better off having them contribute to 2 playoff runs. Kind of feel the same way this year. If some guy can help as a reliever, he should be doing it this year, especially if 23 or older. They can be a bit creative, multi inning outings and stuff, to continue development as a starter.

Completely different situations. All 3 had minor league experience with issues that made them relievers to begin their careers

Castro- pitched 3 years in the minors before getting called up. Pitched multiple games as a reliever and starter

Osuna- pitched 4 years in the minors including the Mexican league

Sanchez- pitched 5 years in the minors before coming up

The club knew what to expect from these pitchers and them starting as a reliever was for a reason along with the need

Zulueta will be moved along as a SP until the team sees enough innings to make a decision

Sucks that Zulueta had that freak injury to start last season.

It'd be nice to have a guy like that hanging around in the upper minors with a full season already under his belt.

Zulueta gets the Nate Pearson treatment from me. Though, hopefully with fewer weird health issues going forward.

He's a starter until he absolutely 100% proves that he can't be a starter.

Zulueta is a 24 year old from Cuba. He was pitching in Cuba for many years, presumably, and may actually have more experience than the others.

It's not like he's Tiedemann a 19 year old with a lot of potential development who you don't want to rush.

I mean, if you put Zulueta in the high minors for 3 weeks he will have as much experience as Manaoh when he was called up successfully. And he will be older too.

Zulueta has been in the US since 2019...so where has he been pitching lmao. He hasn't. How no one can grasp this concept is beyond me lol. He will move fast, but still one step at a time

Keep all the prospects!

I'd have an extremely difficult time moving any of Moreno, Martinez and Tiedemann after what they've shown this season. Moreno in particular has more to show as the power hasn't showed up yet, I can't help but wonder if he's back at full strength yet after the broken hand last season.

Wonder the same, history of those injuries says he's not.

Knocking Down The Door: May 13, 2022

by Jason Martinez

May 13, 2022

https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/knocking-down-the-door-may-13-2022/

•Adrian Hernandez (22), RP, Triple-A Buffalo | Toronto Blue Jays | Prospect Rank: n/a | May 4-May 11: 4 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 7 K

Hernandez is listed somewhere between 5’8″-5’10” and 170-190 pounds with a fastball in the low 90s and a slider that needs work. So, you’re probably wondering what the heck this guy is doing here? It’s simple. He has an incredible changeup that he throws at least fifty percent of the time and batters still can’t hit it even if they know what’s coming.

Signed as a 17-year-old in November 2017, Hernandez appears to have the same bulldog mentality that several Mexican pitchers have had over the last several decades, beginning with Fernando Valenzuela. Since getting the call to Triple-A, the 22-year-old right-hander has pitched seven no-hit innings with two walks and 12 strikeouts. He won’t need to take on a significant role in a deep Blue Jays’ bullpen once he does get the call, but he could give them valuable innings as hitters struggle to adjust to his repertoire.
