The little Pinto bean played his first game for Dunedin today.

 

Went 2 for 5 as the DH

 

Otto Lopez also played his first game of the season today, rehabbing in Dunedin along with Groshans so hopefully those two are back with the Bisons soon.

I don't think he's been mentioned in this thread yet but he is a 19-year-old that is absolutely carving guys up in Dunedin right now.

 

11 IP so far, 8 H, 16 K, 2 BB, 1 HBP. Best xFIP in the Blue Jays system so far through the early season.

You're writing Stroman off over 19 innings, that wouldn't be wise.

Speed + pop + walks + dramatically reduced K's. It's only 72 PA, but he's looking very interesting now, especially given his defensive versatility. Time to follow in Teoscar and Espinal's footsteps as random trade deadline pickups who pan out.

They didn't protect him pre lockout and were ready to lose him if a Rule 5 draft happened, so it's definitely possible he is traded mid season. If they feel he's not capable of carrying this performance over, then it would make sense to sell high, but the numbers/age/skill set look enticing.

I wouldn't hate the idea of giving him a Kevin Smith style MLB audition before deciding on selling. He's certainly forcing the issue either way.

I was hoping he'd be a fast riser last season, then he hurt himself in the first inning of his season covering first base IIRC.

 

I think he'd climb fast as a reliever, but they're trying him as a starter so it's probably going to take a while if he makes it.

I am pretty sure he was assigned to Vancouver
