Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Vancouvers roster looks like s*** lol. The only real prospects their are Kloff and Van Eyk. Also Hagen Danner is listed as a pitcher. I was curious where Vancouver was playing, the cynical part of me thought it might actually be Vancouver, just because a minor league baseball team would be small enough to fly under the radar with the 10,000 truckers a day and 10 planes from India coming in (well the planes from India up until a couple days ago). Turns out it is Oregon. lol
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Go ahead and throw him some questions about prospects/minor league/Blue Jays. Just reply to his tweet for anyone interested. This is for Collazo and Badler’s weekly podcast
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 I hate dealing in absolutes, but I think there's about a 0.02% chance we spend big FA money on a shortstop with Groshans/Martin/Orelvis coming through the pipeline. I'm perfectly fine with Grichuk being the 4th OFer, but I can't imagine scenario where we'd also push Biggio to the bench. Yeah, I'd have to agree.
jerb Verified Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Ben Wagner @benwag247 Nate Pearson, pitched a sim-game in Dunedin hitting 100 mph and striking out 5 of the 8 outs he recorded, gets the opener tomorrow night. Triple-A will use a traditional 5-man rotation: LHP Nick Allgeyer, RHP Alex Manoah, RHP T.J. Zeuch and RHP Jacob Waguespack.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Zach Britton as a catcher. I think they screwed up at least 1 person on every roster. It's embarrassing.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Solarte Hiraldo Martinez Sloniger Mueller Cook Ray Britton Ammons Schneider Morris Not bad for a single-A team, some deep sleeper pitching talent too.

Also Hagen Danner is listed as a pitcher. Maybe switched back to pitcher since he's not all that great of a hitter? He was a 2-way player when we drafted him. Edit: looking at his instagram this is in fact what happened. His draft profile from the time. Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 50 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 55 | Overall: 50 Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 45 | Run: 30 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50 Known since starring in the 2011 Little League World Series, Danner is one of the better legitimate two-way players in this Draft class. The scouting industry is still split down the middle on whether he'd be better suited on the mound or behind the plate at the next level. Danner has spent more time, especially in showcases, showing what he can do as a pitcher. He has a live fastball that can touch 94-95 mph and complements it with a solid curveball and a changeup that flashes above-average. He can fill the strike zone with all three, coming from a high slot. The UCLA commit also has the chance to a special catcher. He has good hands and a plus arm defensively and while he's a below-average runner, his athleticism helps him move well behind the dish. He swings the bat well from a crouch set up, with quiet pop that could end up being average power in the future. The one thing scouts agree on is that Danner's grades will improve once he starts to focus on one craft. But even as the spring unfolded, there was division among scouts whether he should stay on the mound or behind the plate at the next level.

King Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 where does a player like Dasan Brown play??? They get held back in Extended Spring Training
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 They get held back in Extended Spring Training Thank-you I honestly like that idea....reminds me of the Baseball Academy that the Royals had back in the 70's. Staying in one location working on skills and fundamentals can be beneficial more so than a lengthy schedule of games!
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Justin Maese listed on the Vancouver roster. Hoping he can stay healthy, used to have a lot of potential. Outside of the highest level prospects I'm interested to see Robberse with Dunedin and Zac Britton as a catcher apparently. Also surprised they're apparently going to be using Joey Murray out of the pen in Buffalo(Ben Wagner doesn't have him listed on his reported 5 man rotation). Perhaps preparing him for an eventual call up where he's far more likely to see time out of the Jays pen. Surprised not to see Leonardo Jimenez, Dasan Brown, Frasso or Palmer anwhere.

Regarding Joey Murray, they probably just expect to call up Nate within a short timeframe if he shows that he's healthy, and Murray would slot back into the rotation after that. Could also be trying to use him as a multi-inning reliever going forward though I suppose.

Shapiro knocked it out of the park, concerning our facility in Dunedin.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2021 Author Posted May 4, 2021 I'm a little surprised The Kloff is in Vancouver. Thought they would've moved him to Dunedin. Guess there's still a lot of work to be done.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Damn I'd love to see Manoah pitch at AAA Are they still doing milb.tv?

Forgot Dunedin is now A-ball and Vancouver A+.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Kloffenstein promoted from Low A Vancouver to High A Vancouver. That won't ever not sound weird. A bunch of the 2nd day of the Jays 2019 draft class did the same. I count 11 guys on the 2019 Vancouver roster on the opening day roster today.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Nice little discount for anyone that wants to follow minor league baseball. It’s $29.99 USD for 12 months with promo code
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Just curious, but are there streams out there for MiLB?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Just curious, but are there streams out there for MiLB? I don't think so, bro. I've tried to find it and have asked every year the same question.
