RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 With Price we can even track down Yankees. 7 games is nothing
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 WOW! So... if last year you told me the jays would have Price, Tulo, Donaldson and martin.. I would have expected our prospect trio to be gone. And I would have definitely expected all three of them to go for either Tulo or Donaldson in one deal.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 With Price we can even track down Yankees. 7 games is nothing The thing though is that the Yankees have beat up on Price ;/
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 People are underestimating the role that Boyd has, he's valuable pitching depth that I would rather throw out than someone like Doubront. Lack of depth has been a problem that anthopoulos has kept pushing on himself. If someone goes down there's a problem. Sanchez is going to dominate ini the pen for us down the stretch. All in and I love it!
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Holy s***!!!!!! I'm not even throwing up at the cost either. With Buehrle and possibly Dickey coming off the books we could possibly sign him to an extension too.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I think AA is going to try to sign him to an extension. He'll have the money to do it.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Well I'm eating a lot of crow right now after suggesting AA won't do crazy things to "save his job". Wow. There has to be some thought that if we win the World Series this year - good players will want to sign in TO.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Bottom five farm system with aging players. We will end up the new Phillies Back-to-back NL pennants and a WS. I'd be very happy with that outcome.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I think AA is going to try to sign him to an extension. He'll have the money to do it. Do we want him to?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The thing though is that the Yankees have beat up on Price ;/ That's okay we can beat up their pitchers too The whole team will be super motivated
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 With the exception of his infinite patience with Sanchez, AA doesn't seem to forgive bad seasons from prospects and that's what he was getting from Labourt and Norris. If it wasn't for the fact that Boyd is having an awesome season, this would look like a high profile version of the J.A. Happ trade. Bad seasons? he doesn't seem to forgive bad starts
TRM Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 2 win improvement ROS. Pretty colossal upgrade given where they are in the standings and the win curve yada yada yada
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Do we want him to? Yes. Why not?
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 With Price we can even track down Yankees. 7 games is nothing It doesn't work that way, the Jays with Price are only 1.5-2 wins better, the Yankees are still a considerably better team. They'll have to go on a pretty spectacular run and outperform their talent to win the division
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Jays 2-9 in Dubront Copeland And Boyd starts
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Well I'm eating a lot of crow right now after suggesting AA won't do crazy things to "save his job". Wow. There has to be some thought that if we win the World Series this year - good players will want to sign in TO. AA doesnt operate that way. No GM can worry about his job when doing deals
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 14s14 seconds ago According to mike francesa on @WFAN660 pineda's elbow is hurting and nova has an injury, too
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I think AA is going to try to sign him to an extension. He'll have the money to do it. Price does not sign before the off season 0% chance of it.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Back-to-back NL pennants and a WS. I'd be very happy with that outcome. And do you wanna bet that won't happen?
jays76 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm surprised AA couldn't squeeze out Cespedes too.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 It doesn't work that way, the Jays with Price are only 1.5-2 wins better, the Yankees are still a considerably better team. Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The thing though is that the Yankees have beat up on Price ;/ Don't be dumb now
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The Bobcat has spoken. Nah. He's just the guy in the Bobcat commercial.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I'm surprised AA couldn't squeeze out Cespedes too. Can't get greedy. Still can address one rotation slot and one BP slot.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Don't worry, the Jays have one of the worst if not the worst set of prospects now, so if that's any solace to you if things don't work out. Even with this trade, the Jays still have a way better farm than the Tigers.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Bottom five farm system with aging players. We will end up the new Phillies The Jays have Devon Travis who would be top 3 in rookie of the year voting if he could stay healthy, Pillar who is a 3+ WAR player, Osuna, Donaldson, Saunders and Sanchez who are all controllable. They are all big league players already and Osuna is going to start next year. They have tulo and martin signed for the long term and EE and bats signed for one more year and Bats will likely sign an extension...could probably get both. I'm glad the Jays are going for it. You always have more prospects than you do spots for them in the future. We are going for it. Good for us. We still have Pompey and Alford and the arms we drafted this year and next and the year after that will fill the pipeline eventually. We should have the money to sign a price if we so choose at the end of the year, but it would be an overpay as all those contracts are, but it's time for the Jays to start acting like the big market they are and if they get into the playoffs and get revenue and did resign a price a rotation with Price, Stroman and Osuna at the top with our offense would be pretty competitive next year.
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Price does not sign before the off season 0% chance of it. Didn't he go to arbitration every year? Yeah, its laughable people think Price would even consider an in season deal
ColdPint Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Let's worry about getting above .500 before anyone starts talking about playoffs and the WS. AA did his job, it's entirely on the players shoulders now.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 2 win improvement ROS. Pretty colossal upgrade given where they are in the standings and the win curve yada yada yada That's the one real problem. The gap from our 5th starters to Price is 2 games, but the ap from our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pitchers to Price isn't exactly small either. This is now a team with an ace, and 3s and 4s.
