jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 and more eddy at 1B and less smoak at 1B Since this lineup is heavily right handed, you hope this means Smoak is in the lineup more going forward.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I was trying to think back on big trades the Rockies have made and realized that they don't really ever make any. What a weird org. They traded that pitcher, what's his name, to Cleveland. I think it's the same guy that Baltimore gave a big contract to. You know that guy.

You know that guy. Right. Forgot about that. They also made a killing on the Holliday trade. And I guess they traded Fowler for Lyles. Very few big deals over the years though. They really keep to themselves.

What a weird org. I live in Denver and everyone hates ownership. They get really involved in everything and they also stick with their baseball ops guys for far too long, it appears. On top of it they do weird things like write angry reply letters to fans, DUI's, etc. I live right next to Coors though so they have become my second team and from their perspective it is nice to see them FINALLY move on from the Tulo/Cargo contracts. This is long overdue and it has really affected the value of both guys IMO but it's better late than never.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 They traded Ubaldo for Pomeranz and White, they flipped those guys for a year of Brett Anderson. That's really it in recent years. Oh, and Jordan Lyles/Dexter Fowler happened. I know my reply was really good and quite precise but I have to admit once again that this is better if only slightly.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 how in the world did you end up in Colorado? You end up there cause of the weed brah? I am a Canadian citizen but I was born and raised in the US. Ended up in CO for work.
Thaddeus Malice Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Yeah. Colorado obviously isn't buying Tulo's zips projections. And they're more familiar than anyone with his medical status. Looking at it from the other way, the Jays might feel comfortable giving up Hoffman if they no longer believe he has the same ceiling he did when he was drafted. Although by all accounts they've had a hand in lowering it by changing up his delivery.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Whether Hoffman and Castro work out in the Rockies org. is another question. As well known, Colorado is known for wrecking pitchers, due to altitude. Look at former Phillie Kyle Kendrick.. he is even worse in Colorado than he was in Philly. Or how about Eddie Butler, who has more BBs than Ks. Other disasters and injury blowups include(not just 2015): Jordan Lyles, Chad Bettis, Tyler Matzek, Jhoulys Chacin, David Hale, Franklin Morales (although he's done a good job out of KC's pen), Rex Brothers, Christian Friedrich, Juan Nicasio(good thing he got on with the Dodgers), Tyler Chatwood, Alex White, Drew Pomeranz, Edwar Cabrera.. It's a very long list. If you're a flyball pitcher, don't go to Colorado. Not even the humidor helps anymore.. this organization needs MAJOR changes. Preferably getting pitchers that can pitch in altitude.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I was trying to think back on big trades the Rockies have made and realized that they don't really ever make any. What a weird org. Matt Holliday is the only one that comes to mind
IBTrini Verified Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Terry @tlheard12 Elliott says the Jays offered Norris, Hoffman and Pompey for Carrasco. Thanks. If it is true hopefully the fans will come to realize that Anthopoulos knows where the priority should be however if plans to get a pitcher is not materializing then he will try to make the team better going forward by addressing other inefficiencies. I really liked Reyes (including his personality which, in my mind, plays a part in club chemistry) however SS D needed to be addressed. His range, especially to his left, was lacking and even though he has a strong arm it was erratic at times - reminded me of some of Encarnacion's throws from 3B a few years back. Also, lately Reyes was messing up even the most straight-forward balls hit to him which was costing the Jays some games. Who knows how this change will affect the team going forward however, whichever way it goes, it should still provide some entertaining baseball.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Matt Holliday is the only one that comes to mind One of their rare good trades, as they got Huston Street and CarGo in the deal.

Governator Community Moderator Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 It seems obvious to me that if Pompey doesn't get moved for pitching, he'll be getting called up as early as next week for LF.
