Macsattack Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Two nights in a row keeping the starter in there too long. 40 games into the year like to see a little better feel for the pitching staff.

Not really, he did fine keeping Hutch that long. Not his fault that Delabar is a shadow of his former self.
Jayday Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Not really, he did fine keeping Hutch that long. Not his fault that Delabar is a shadow of his former self. No, he should have taken hutch out after the hit batter. IMO it's never a good idea to bring in a reliever with bases loaded and 0 outs. Then on the other hand, Gib most likely doesn't have confidence in the BP. It's easy to argue moves after the game is over.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 It can't be easy for Gibbons to have to choose between sticking with his starters, who have been lousy, and his bullpen, who have been lousy. Probably should have gone to Cecil, but you know, #closer.

Praxis Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I don't know if this mess is really Gibbons fault or not, but I cannot understand how the different lines of reasoning about accountability works. Honestly most of the time it seems like this: >It's not Rogers fault, they've provided enough money for a contender >It's not Beeston's fault, he's doing a great job getting owners to raise the budget and he's presided over 2 world series already. >It's not AA's fault, injuries and an unexpected tightening of the budget at the worst times has hamstrung his ability to make significant roster moves >It's not Gibbon's fault, he can only work with what he has. >It's not the players fault, the artificial turf and Dunedin make for lousy playing facilities that lead to injuries >It's not the media's fault because they're only reporting on what they see So, who's left to blame for the last 6 seasons of futility and the longest playoff drought in major league sports? The fans? Internet forums? The grounds crew? The equipment manager? The ball boys/girls? Somebody please tell me, because I need to know for my own sanity.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Yes cause a underachieving starting pitching Staff is his Fault. Resulting in a overused pen his fault, knee jerk reactions by AA and a team half full of Rookies in the starting line up his fault, injuries and not just putting people on the DL when they need to be his fault, this not the Try League, it's the Win league tells me there is still a culture problem on this team, either to much me and not team first attitude or too weak minded! So FYSMC not Gibbies fault !
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 To the people who don't think Gibbons is a problem, what games have you been watching this season? He's been worse than usual, and his usual is trash. Alex is a bigger problem, but Gibbons has always been one.

Did anyone else notice the difference between Gibby and Scoscia ( crap, is that spelt right?).....Gibby sat down almost all game in his corner, leaning back, and the camera even caught him yawning, which may or may not affect the team, who knows. Meanwhile Mike S. Seemed into the game, on his feet and moving around the dugout looking like he actually gave a f*** if his team won. I've said it before, I was a huge Gibby fan, but I'm 100% on board with firing him. It's time to send a message and see what happens. Ps f*** this team!
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Also, my boi AA can f*** off and suck my dick to, I'm done with my love affair. Here's a brutal stat: @ByChrisBlack: Jays Pitching in Anthopoulos Era (2010-15) Starters ERA 4.52 (28th in MLB) Bullpen ERA 3.94 (26th in MLB) Overall ERA 4.32 (27th in MLB) I'm all about pitching and defence.

However if the stats guys have an argument against this I'm willing to listen. I hate the way he uses the pitchers. In my opinion the young pitchers should only go 6 or 7 even if they are having a dynamite game. Should see something like this. Sanchez 6 innings - 2 runs, 1 walk 4 ks -- Attaboy Sanchez go to the shower and be happy you had a good night. Osuna 2 innings - Is Osuna better than Syndegard?? Probably f***ing not... but nice job Osuna (pitches every 3 or 4 days like this, Hendricks can do this if Sanchez ain't available). Cecil 1 innings - all right Cecil you are a bad mother f***ing closer. Everyone for the most part decides their own fate. None of this 1/3 inning s***, no Sanchez walking guys to lead off the 7th.
youngtea Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 The last post I had here 3-4 months ago I said fire Gibbons and I was torched. I'm not sure why he was rehired and why AA is still here. There is a big support for these guys among the fans to say that it's not either of their faults that this team has been failure since they've both been here. Really the entire Jays organization is trash. We laugh at the leafs and raptors, but in terms of organization from top/down the Jays have it bad and have had it so for years now.

youngtea Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 He has s*** pitching in the rotation s*** pitching in the BP He's f***ed no matter what he does. And he's been a s*** manager every year he's been with the Jays. Are you trying to prove that he's a good manager?
nowayjose Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 He has been a fine manager. Sure, sometimes he seems to make a bad bullpen move, Ph move etc.. but overall he has been fine in the logistics side of the game. One could make a case for his personality having a negative effect on the team. He seems to be on vacation rather than at work and it would be nice if he carried himself in a more professional, serious manner. But it doesn't really matter. AA f***ed this team bad with the Marlins and Mets trades and we are now paying for it. Not much we can do expect pray a bunch of aging, injury prone veterans making way too much money somehow provide value at least in the vicinity of their contract. But at least he seems to have found a brain this last year. If he continues to make moves like the Donaldson and Martin ones, this team should be in a good position soon.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Have you guys seen the line up today? -____-
Praxis Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Absent the top three, there are AAA clubs who probably have a more potent offensive lineup. f*** me.
Praxis Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 I mean f*** it, why even bother? Put Travis and Bautista on the DL, move in Smoak and some stiff from AAA and just shoot for the highest first round pick and prep for the inevitable fire sale. Now watch these clowns put up 10+ runs tonight!
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 holy s*** it was the bottom half that scored yesterday. top half didn't do s***.

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 So when did you have a change of heart? I would assume when you look at those stats.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 holy s*** That lineup should get JG fired. First off, sorry RA, you are so s*****, no more personal catchers, you get Martin. Second, Goins or Tolly, you are hitting leadoff for speed reasons, or even Pillar. Josh 2, JB 3, EE 4, RM 5, CC 6, DV 7, KP or RG or ST.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 And he's been a s*** manager every year he's been with the Jays. Are you trying to prove that he's a good manager? Where's your evidence that he's been bad? What I'm trying to prove is that dipshits like yourself are not smart enough to realize that firing the manager is a scapegoat move that doesn't solve anything. All it does is give the real problem another year or so to keep doing his thing.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 That's a total cop out. Gibbons is one of the biggest reasons this pitching staff is bottom tier. A manager that actually has his finger on the pulse of his team knows when to take pitchers out and when to leave them in. He only exacerbates the problem. You don't sound very smart.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Is Goins even faster than Donaldson? He's a lot worse at hitting, so he must be. Also gotta make sure you complain about the maximum number of mundane things to justify in your pea sized brain that Gibbons is the real problem on this team.

Im no Gibby basher and I don't see hammering him as the be all end all but there is a reason some managers make the big money and some don't. Some last and some don't. Saying Gibby doesn't bare some responsibility is like saying Babcock had little to do with the Red Wings performance because all he had to do was play what he had for a roster. Sometimes changing the manager is a good move, and not just a knee jerk scapegoat play. This team has a lot of issues. I don't see Gibby as the biggest problem by far.
