I wonder if they would potentially start Price on 3 days rest in game 4 if they are down 2-1 in the series?

I would think this is a no-brainer.

Also, does Hamels going in game 2 change whether you would want to start Stroman or Dickey?

It shouldn't matter. I think you have to start Stroman in game 2.

People are using the dome as an excuse to use Dickey but in general he struggles when it is cold or windy. Texas will be warm and I'm guessing good conditions for him to not be a baby and complain about the weather if he sucks.

The odds of Stroman winning on the road vs at home are more even than Dickey. I would be very surprised if they set up Dickey to pitch in Arlington.

Starting Price/Stroman in the first two games at least gives you the (better) option of going Price/Stroman in games 4/5 if the need arises (assuming that it's best to have Stroman pitching on regular, rather than short rest).

I appreciate what Dickey is and isn't as a pitcher but something doesn't sit right with me if the club is basically saying: "Dickey is in our playoff rotation, depending on the park".

I read a couple days ago that MLB & umpires decide if a roof should be open or closed during postseason, not the home team. They do consider how the home team used the roof throughout the season though. There is no guarantee the roof is closed with Dickey pitching.

Is Hamels still the pitcher he used to be?

Dominicans destroyed Hamels in the WBC spring training. He's s*** against Dominicans.

We will know soon enough. Always a danger in being too cute in these situations. I agree with your statement regarding odds but I like the idea of taking our best chance to win the first 2 @ home and put Texas one loss away from elimination. Then we rely on RA/Estrada or Price and our offense to get it closed in Tex.

Starting Dickey and Estrada in Texas doesn't worry me too much because the Jays will be going up against two of Lewis/Holland/Gallardo. Should be able to crush them!

If Dickey blows his game and we're down 0-2, Stroman's start wont matter. Put your best starters in and deal with everything else after, don't want to be like the tigers last year.

If they're not prepared to do that then Dickey at home in the dome for game 2 games sense.

They would start Price in that situation unless his rotator cuff was shredded. And even then they might. He is a rental and with our backs to the wall he must get the call.

The Turf kills Groundballs so Stroman you would think is the much better pitcher at home. I will say Dickey with the LHH and RF in Texas scares me a bit though. Didn't he have a stinker last time in Texas?

I think they need to worry about a loss in effectiveness when considering using Price on 3 days rest. Wasn't he smashed last post-season when he went on short rest?
