Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 To be honest I like the policy of not giving guys more then 4 years. Less risk more reward
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Baseless speculation, but this is Morosi's useless opinion on what it could take: That's a f***ing ridiculous cost for 10 starts from a pitcher, I don't care if it's Walter Johnson. Ya, pass on that one. Can't see AA giving that up for a rental though
baubau Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 If you are going to offer that much, just put up the entire farm for Corrasco.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I am having a hard time with this especially when he was very blunt about not giving up the farm on rentals during his presser
baubau Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Morosi's opinion doesn't matter. There is no precedent for a rental landing that type of prospect package. I wouldn't be too worried. Noah Syndergaard / Travis D for Dickey. STILL NOT WORRIED ?!
Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 To be honest I like the policy of not giving guys more then 4 years. Less risk more reward I have no issues with it in general, but you should have exceptions to the rule. Let's say Roy Halladay of the mid 2000s was available but he wanted 6 years instead of 5, would you not bend that?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 That's crippling if AA does that. Worse then the Mets trade if it goes down

Then mull over it for a few days. Pitchers are a terrible investment.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 If Price was signed would you do that deal?
Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 If we get Price who do you see going the other way? I'd assume Norris is a 100% lock.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Morosi's opinion doesn't matter. There is no precedent for a rental landing that type of prospect package. I wouldn't be too worried. Be worried about Norris+, but not Norris+Alford+. I know that his opinion doesn't matter, that was my point. His opinion is useless, and the package he thinks it would take is ridiculous. That being said, precedents don't always matter if a team wants something bad enough. Tunnel vision could drive a team to pay something that nobody else would or should be comfortable paying.
baubau Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 That wasn't a mid-season rental. In recent years, Greinke, Cueto, Lee, Anibal, etc. landed less. More so pointing out that this team is capable of doing something stupid.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Reading the troll accounts of Morosi and Heyman are amazing. I should bring my fake heyman account out of retirement
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 The Blue Jays were in on Cueto though and this package is way better than what the Royals gave up. If they were willing to offer this for Price, they would have landed Cueto. Not unless the whole deal hasn't yet been reported. What if Cespedes is involved? Nobody's said that, that's just pure baseless speculation on my part, but there's an obvious fit there.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Kenny Ken is hearing the trade is imminent and that it might be Norris and Alford.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 MLBTR saying that Heyman says it's a done deal. Price to Toronto, no price listed as of yet.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 This was not normal, Flores was still playing. It was highly unusual. I cannot remember a trade breaking and falling apart while the player was on the field. Secondly, to dismiss this as a failed medical is also naive. Gomez is completely healthy. His agent is adamant he's healthy and he's playing today. There was no one else going to the Mets so it's not dense to think there could be more to this story than is being let on. I agree that Flores should have been benched if they were negotiating a trade involving him. He's not a superstar, I doubt a benching would even raise much of an eyebrow. That was dumb but I still don't think it's a big deal and I don't buy anything else of what you're selling.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 So who thinks we stop here? AA was saying he had balls in the air for another position player as well.
