jays76 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Moss's wRC+ 2012 - 160 2013 - 137 2014 - 121 2015 - 94 The hip issue he had this offseason is likely part of the reason he sucks this year, but he certainly wasn't trending in the right direction either. SLG% went from .596 in 2012 to .438 last year to .407 this year. But of course he'll likely rebound in St. Louis. Who goes to St. Louis and sucks really? nobody. Only Peter Bourjos, but then again he never was good was he..
jerb Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 Seemingly half of the teams in baseball were scouting Dunedin's Anthony Alford last night. Most all left as soon as he left the game.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Holy f*** do we ever need an upgrade in LF. I knew Colabello was terrible but looking into Carrera and Valencia would you imagine that Valencia has been our best of the three in LF? Colabello's rocking that -9 DRS (-14 if you include RF) with a UZR of -56.6, Valencia -3 and -4.6 and Carrera has been -10 and -8.3. Obviously Colabello has no business putting his feet onto anything other than a batters box (which is also debatable) but Carrera is basically in the same boat. They have Pompey, just need to call him up

Is Saunders still slated for an August return? Not that he won't be rusty or potentially a write off this year of course. Maybe AA could swing J Upton in a package deal with SD..

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 It wasn't inconsequential at all, the Mets were embarrassed last night because the details were leaked. Whoever let the info out made them look very bad -- their reputation with fans and peers is not something that organizations take lightly. No one's going to stop making trades with them over this. Fans will move on. This is a blip on the radar.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 It's hard to see a scenario in which the Jays do add somebody before the deadline and still have Alford in the system a few days from now.
baloojayz Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 He thinks he will be. Media reports have the season written off. " On February 25, Saunders stepped on a sprinkler while shagging fly balls and tore his meniscus.[10] Initially, the expectation was for Saunders to be on the disabled list until the All-Star break, however after having surgery to remove 60% of his meniscus the estimate was reduced to 4-6 weeks.[11] He was assigned to the Advanced-A Dunedin Blue Jays for a rehab assignment on April 8.[12] After the Blue Jays lost 12–3 to the Tampa Bay Rays on April 24, Saunders was activated off the disabled list.[13] He experienced discomfort in his knee in early May, missing several games after having fluid drained and receiving a cortisone injection. Saunders returned to the line-up on May 9, but was placed on the 15-day disabled list the following day to rest his knee." -as per wiki What's the deal there? He opted for a temp fix so his injury wouldn't be career ending, came back and now is out again? Will he ever be truly back?

Most recent X-Ray (2 weeks ago) still shows it as a pretty deep bruise. You can't set a time line on that.

He might never be the same, at this point hopefully he rehabs it slowly and properly over the off season and comes back ok next yr. I always felt it was a little rushed regarding his returns.
luggies Verified Member Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 It's more than a long shot, but I hope AA can pull off a Gray, Anibal Sanchez or Carrasco deal. No reason for any of these to be moved unless overwhelmed obviously. I also never thought Donaldson would be moved so maybe there's hope. Pipe dream for sure.

Teams will absolutely not make deals with other teams that consistently leak details. Do you think AA would deal with the Mets if he thought it would get leaked early? The Mets had a SS crying on the field, they had fans from across the league as well as national media coverage trashing their front office and #LOLMETS was trending on twitter. It's embarrassing and that matters.

The only reason this is newsworthy is that a player was rejected for health reasons, something that rarely ever happens, and the teams had to pull out. Stop trying to make a mountain out of this. This isn't all that different that what happened with Matt Kemp in the off season. Did people stop dealing with the Dodgers over that?

Its not like they were in mid conversation when this happened. Deal was considered done pending physicals which is generally routine and this is one of the rare cases that something came up that concerned one of the teams and it was nicked.
