Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 There should be a one-day ban for anyone who blames the BP for the pitching mess and isn't doing so tongue-in-cheek or just to troll...this is just common sense...if a bunch of guys who were failed starters or otherwise trained to pitch out of the pen this year are forced to log more innings than the starters because they can't get out of the 5th, they will have a hard time performing at their peak.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Is it remotely possible that umpires have turned on Martin due to.all the emphasis that was put on his pitch framing

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 The Miguel Castro Roller Coaster: A ball -> MLB closer -> minor leagues Seriously, how is that even possible. That's like me waking up tomorrow being a f***ing CEO, then one month later being demoted to an entry level s***** job.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Hopefully this is the year that Chad Jenkins finds his way out of the organization... What the f*** has Chad Jenkins done that has been so deplorable that he needs to find his way off the team? He's a bust as a top prospect but 97 innings of a 3.25 ERA/4.32 xFIP spread out over three years with an ability to make an occasional spot start is not the worst thing to have for depth on this team.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 No. Why not If I was an umpire and this catcher was virtually getting paid millions extra and fame for fooling me on what a strike is, I'd be shrinking the strike zone on him just a bit

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Unfortunately I have to ban NJH now. I can't afford his head getting any bigger after I had to Thanks almost every post he made in this thread. If only he wasn't such a douche on the other side of the board.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Look for Norris and Castro to get things turned around within the next 2-4 weeks now that they're out of Pete Walker's closet. Younger pitchers fresh in the bigs will 100% dedicate their schooling to the pitching coach, regardless of his pedigree. Norris and Castro will find consistency in Buffalo and when they get back, they'll know better as to what they should be absorbing from clown Pete.

A lot of kids, especially the really young ones, probably defer way too much to the coaches in the big leagues, assuming that these coaches are the best and they know best.

A) he's replacement level. he's the type of player that is available on waivers literally every week of the season C) he's a symbol of past draft failures and a scar from the Ricciardi, black jersey era. D) he fat
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 The starters are a much bigger concern then bullpen.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 You make good points but I would say the pen is still a weakness right now and could have easily been patched up if they had a bit of cash. Like you're saying clearly the rotation is really bad right now, Norris isn't ready and Hutch is the same inconsistent (maybe worse?) pitcher that he was last year. Sanchez has a 1.05 K/BB FFS and some people think he's been pitching well. How the hell do the Jays have 3 premier sluggers on affordable contracts and still have a hard time competing? Small sample but all signs point to it being another mediocre year IMO. They have 3 big sluggers but 2 are still asleep at the wheel ! Reyes is being Reyes, injured and not contributing and Martins been average at best. Thank God we have ROY Travis!

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 For?? No idea. Just throwing it out there because the team absolutely needs to move Reyes if they want to retool or rebuild. Maybe the Padres would take him, too.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 i'm pumped for Delabar...I've been championing his call up for over a week now..
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 He's not fat anymore dude, be cool You can change your appearance but you can't change who you are, on the inside.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Castro was sent to triple A, I'm assuming to continue as a reliever. AA is just so dumb
polar bear Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Didn't you catch his last start? Only 2 ER man! And another six walks, sooner or later it's going to catch up with him.
strochez Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 AA: I want Castro, Osuna, Norris, Pompey and Travis on the team and Delabar in AAA. Gibby: No way! That's too many rookies to have on the team. AA: Let's try it for a month if you don't like it we'll send them down. Gibby:
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Castro was sent to triple A, I'm assuming to continue as a reliever. AA is just so dumb Stupid move. This was a perfect chance to send him to Dunedin and stretch him out. This org is hopeless.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 mark zwolinski @markzwol AA has a scrum - said Castro down to buffalo to start - trying to build innings up for now I'm sorry Alex. You're OK, for now.
nmrch Verified Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 what are you saying sorry for, Castro is barely ready for A+ ball starts, this is another mistake.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I'm sorry Alex. You're OK, for now. hope they work on secondary stuff
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Castro's secondary stuff looked excellent in ST. Everything looked good. FB, location. and for some reason he just lost that command in the season.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Castro's secondary stuff looked excellent in ST. Everything looked good. FB, location. and for some reason he just lost that command in the season. I think he gets caught up in it. He's quite excitable and that's the norm for a 20 year old. Osuna is a completely different animal and I think that's why he's had more success so far.

Osuna is a completely different animal and I think that's why he's had more success so far. I think Osuna was always a more polished pitcher than Castro and that the results of the two pitchers are reflective of their present abilities. I didn't perceive that Castro looked particularly flustered on the mound and projection systems that weigh their minor league statistics agree with what has happened.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
