Caper Verified Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Last season, before it started I must have wrote down the expected starting 9 like a hundred times. Man it looked good. Of course I expected huge years from Lawrie and Colby that never happened.... But before the season it looked sooo nice. As it turned out I don't think I saw the lineup I wrote down even a single time.... not once. Someone was always hurt. This year I find myself doing the same... and I feel more bullish about it then before last year. So here is what I have. Reyes S Martin R Bautista R Encarnacion R Donaldson R Saunders L Travis R Smoak S Pompey S That's a pretty solid lineup. Can't start the year with it as Saunders is on the DL, but I think the rest are a go. I'm dreaming of seeing it. Hope this year I will.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 i hope the jays get some injury luck this year too, they seem to no never get it and the way this spring has gone doesnt bode well for that to happen. Here's to hoping
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I'm sure we will, a few times. I don't see Saunders holding up on turf.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I probably have Travis and Smoak flipped in that lineup. But really, that's not a huge deal. And to answer the question posed in the thread title, I'd think so.

I'll say 20 games of those players
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Martin should be near the bottom of the lineup. The .400 OBP last year is a mirage. Reyes Jose E5 Donaldson Saunders Martin Smoak Travis Pompey Get your best hitters as many at bats as you can.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Not enough Navarro in that lineup. It's going to happen, whether we like it or not.

Were not allowed to have nice and healthy things. I'm just thrilled we only have one minor injury right now.. only a week to go!

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 i hope the jays get some injury luck this year too Jays had pretty extraordinary luck last year. Healthy rotation all season.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Jays had pretty extraordinary luck last year. Healthy rotation all season. Morrow was the only casualty, you're right. I have a sneaky suspicion we might see a Boyd start or two later in August
johnl Verified Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 heres to hoping for a healthy season and some good ball, stroman still stings ....to soon to talk about it
Governator Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Reyes lasted 2 weeks in 2013 and 1 swing in 2014 before hitting the DL. I would be shocked if we had that lineup at any point in April.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Morrow was the only casualty, you're right. I have a sneaky suspicion we might see a Boyd start or two later in August Forgot that the team was counting on Morrow at some point. So it wasn't exactly perfect health but excellent overall health and enough depth that the one guy who did go down had no impact.

That depth is gone but Estrada and Hendricks plus a (cross your fingers) Santana and Boyd/Cole is decent. I suppose they can make tandem start with Castro/Osuna if need be.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I feel like Hendricks is almost better suited to be on this roster all year long rather then Redmond.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Redmond proved that he can usually handle himself, Hendricks on the other hand... Very scary to watch. Peripherals tell a different story. Redmond is expendable while Hendricks serves a purpose as the long man/7th in starting rotation depth.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 That lineup has a legitimate shot of doing what the Giants did last year and have every hitter be above league average with the bat. we can hope. without injuries we wont have the black hole in the lineup that we've seen the past few years. Jose, EE and Josh are key. not being able to pitch around guys is vital. we all saw Jose get walked a couple times a game last year in August just because EE was gone and no one farther down in the lineup was a threat.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Pompey has black hole potential (along with good potential). Once Saunders gets back he should never be a black hole, but could very well be below average, same goes from Smoak. Its not a slam dunk, but I can see all those guys being above average if things break right.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 what is timeline on Saunders? There was talk a couple of weeks ago for opening day, that has stopped and he was DL'd. Any chance on home opener??
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 No. My guess is 3rd-4th week of April. AA on Blair said April 15 target. He's supposed to start running today/tomorrow..... you are prob right - 3rd week of April

You can say this sort of thing in describing every team.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 It's great that they've moved toward having more switch hitters recently. That's something the Yankees have been doing successfully for years.
