Laika Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I'd expect Matt Boyd and Taylor Cole to both be in AA/AAA and essentially auditioning for a potential mid-season call up in the wake of this injury. Castro could get an aggressive assignment or early promotion as well.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 He was just settling into a rhythm with his new pitch arsenal, I wonder how a year off without throwing will affect him? I really hope this long break doesn't mess with his mechanics too bad.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I don't think people realize how devastating an injury this is. Never works out for young jays pitchers Injury or no injury this is it for AA lose here and he will never be gm in mlb again. His 6th year now. Garbage post, I and many were saying pitching was an issue the offseason BEFORE stroman got hurt, look it up, a brainless baffoon could see it was a major issue, BEFORE stroman got hurt. Nothing to do with hindsight, just need a brain. Paper thin, never improved the rotation at all, too much reliance on young unknowns. Why are all these users with usernames that imply they are intelligent in some sense so damn stupid?
baloojayz Verified Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Why are all these users with usernames that imply they are intelligent in some sense so damn stupid? Pretty hard not to agree with everything except AA never being GM again... Stroman is a very tough loss to a rotation that looked weak even before he got injured. This is what things look like without any depth. Let's hope Martin can make Hutch an ace.
baloojayz Verified Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 How the hell does something like this happen though??? For the whole season? The ONE guy that we couldn't afford to lose, FFS.

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 How the hell does something like this happen though??? For the whole season? The ONE guy that we couldn't afford to lose, FFS. He is a big loss, but he isn't thatoneguy.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 He is a big loss, but he isn't thatoneguy. Yeah, Donaldson, Martin, and Bautista would all be probable ~4 win losses in a full season. Stroman currently is something like a 2-3 win loss, depending on if someone else gets hurt. If all you care about is entertainment though, then he could definitely be thatoneguy.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Stroman is a bigger loss than anyone outside of Martin, and even that's debatable. The loss of him completely changes the outlook and performance of the entire rotation. But nice try kiddo. Ignore math and reason for a second. Let's just throw names on the wall and see what's pretty. Bautista ----> Pillar Donaldson ----> Valencia Martin ----> Navarro Stroman ----> Norris/Sanchez Three position players who are replaced by junk. A pitcher that is replaced by a top prospect. What's the biggest delta, kiddo?
Key22 Verified Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I was kind of seeing Stroman take over as the ace of the staff this year and certainly the stuff is there but you can't really trade the farm. We probably have a boat load of internal candidates to fill a number 5 spot in the rotation. The only possible element for the Jays in all this is AA's future with the club. If the team doesn't compete in September he's probably canned. Now if we put ourselves in his shoes and a losing season could mean you get fired then would you do something a little crazy? The Phillies want to move Hamels and they want talent in return. Stroman (+ mid/lower level prospects) for Hamels (- a healthy amount of cash). I don't want to trade Stroman I am just posing this as an example of a GM that needs to win and the team probably needs an ace to have any shot at the post season. The Phillies may get 4 prospects from some other team but I seriously doubt any prospect would be anywhere near as good as Stroman unless Boston gets involved.

I understand what your saying but if he traded Stroman to try to win this year would be absurd and come with far too much backlash. I could see him moving unproven pieces for 1 year of Strasburg as a pure replacement win now move knowing Stroman would replace him next year at worst. That's if he truely feels he wants to save his job by mortgaging more future.

After reading articles the last couple months that objectively show that he might not just be good and might actually be our first true stud/ace pitcher since Halladay, I want to go jump off of something right now.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 o's fans must be laughing.. i want to drink bleach Why are you worried AA has a master plan Once preseason is over he is going to look at the pitchers on minor league deals that got cut and replace stroman that way With a plan like that we can afford to have few injuries
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Navarro for Cahill would make sense except for the large difference in salary. If the D-Backs would do Navarro and Romero for Cahill, then I could see it being a possibility, but they have no reason to take Ricky's useless carcass, and the Jays won't add 7m to the payroll for a depth move.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Just think, still four weeks left until the season starts. Four whole weeks left for more injuries and stupid s*** to happen.

By the first day of the regular season?
