Hits allowed means almost nothing when evaluating a pitcher. In a single start you're better looking at what kind of balls were being put in play, and in this case there were a lot of hard hit balls. Sanchez may have had one of the luckiest starts in Blue Jays history.

H/9 is useful for looking at a pitchers ceiling. Although there are some exceptions, it's rare for a pitcher with over 9 H/9 to be a frontline starter. usually there is a large overlap between pitchers that limit hits and pitchers with high K%. The same way that a hitter with a high K% usually has a lower BA.

I've actually liked what I've seen from Sanchez this year, but more for a rotation spot in 2016. He clearly needs to go down to the minors and work on his ability to throw strikes (or even good pitches) consistently.

Anyone who thinks all hope is lost on him is being pessimistic. A couple of the walks today were actually on very good pitches (i.e. borderline strikes) so the number 7 is a little bit inflated (But still a bad sign).

Maybe even a half year in the minors would let him work some stuff out

He was missing bigtime last night. If you have control problems, umpires are not going to give you the benefit of the doubt. He did have 1 really good inning and if he pitched like that all the time, he would be an allstar. Im afraid to say that, this year at least, I dont see his control or even more importantly his command improving.

Why wouldn't you expect any improvement over the course of the season from a 22 year old? I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but I don't think anyone should be shocked it happened.

Being young doesn't mean a player will necessarily improve. Sanchez hasn't improved since 2010. If anything, he has probably regressed as he has gotten older and moved up levels.

I think if you put him in the pen and let him throw mostly FB's for one inning, he will be better. As a starter, he doesn't have anywhere near the command of his pitches that he needs to sustain performance over 6-7 innings.

He has no command, no control either. How can a guy suddenly go from having no command and control to having some? It's not going to happen. Put him in the bullpen now.

His control was fine from the pen when he used 1 pitch, it's clearly in his head.

Who the heck said "suddenly"? Nobody expects a drastic change, but moderate gains over the course of the season isn't too difficult of grasp. To suggest he's made no improvement since 2010 is short sighted as he was trying to develop his 2nd and 3rd pitches in the minors.

I'm not saying it's a guarantee to happen - but to shoot it down like it's some crazy concept is dumn. There are plenty of big prospects who came up with control issues who made adjustments and improvements as they grew, matured and gained experience.

Sanchez needs more than moderate gains over the course of the season to be an effective #5. Sanchez has not made any improvement since 2010, and that's not shortsightedness... that's just plain obvious.

It's never fun seeing a kid struggle. Shame on the Blue Jays for putting Sanchez in a situation where he can't really succeed, given his skill set.

Sanchez vs 8 LHB today..

While Sanchez allows 389/488/806 - 1294OPS

I bet 250 that the 5 inning total on this game would be over 4 runs (anticipating Sanchez getting destroyed)

Kluber dominates, Sanchez gets out of a couple jams and gives up 3 runs over 5 innings.

you're a weirdo, do you jerk off to bad Sanchez starts?

Sanchez terrible again

Got destroyed by LHB, and he owned some crappy 8/9 hole hitters that are RHB.

He was lucky bc he gave up two flyball from LHB to the warning track that were inches from HRs.

Won that bet, but I almost bet 1k, oh well still won 222$ on that bet.

Yes, but hes just a bad pitcher, most of this forums thinks hes a good pitcher when he clearly isn't now. He might be good in few years but not this year.

You have a really bad system (i.e. no real system at all) if you "almost" bet 4 times as much as you actually bet.

Naw, I'm just pretty aggressive with my shot taking on Bodog. I play lots of poker on the site, and if I were to lose a % I have no problem grinding it out at poker(The poker is very easy on that site). The most I've bet so far is 5% of my current bankroll on bodog(sports wise), so its nothing too crazy.

But over the last 2 weeks im 8-0-1 on 5 inning over/under run totals.

10/20NL(2000NL) on Bodog is easier then 10c/25c on Pokerstars..

But I'm playing a mix of 50/100/200nl on bodog poker now..(Wherever there is good games)

Uhh no clue but 99% of live players suck at poker. Bodog is esentially 4 tabling fallsview/woodbine etc
