I'm saying that "if a pitcher gives up few earned runs, that is a successful outing for the team", and also saying "that does not indicate that this pitcher is likely to repeat that successful outing for the team".

Bottom line, success = wins, which is giving up fewer runs than your opponents. Naturally, however, you want to have a guy on the mound who is the most likely to repeat that success which, according to the peripheral stats, Sanchez is not (but f*** if he doesn't keep mocking the s*** out of those peripherals, somehow...)

Ofc, I'm just debating where to attribute that success.

Do we have a final count on SwStr/Pitches yet? IIRC he was up near 100 and someone said 7, so that's not very encouraging.

Pitchers don't give up earned runs though, teams do. Luck and the defense had a successful outing, Sanchez did not.

Six swinging strikes which included just one with the curveball.

did you actually count..lol

Sanchez now 80/90 qualified pitchers in xFIP

Right around where you would expect a 5th starter to be

Not sure if serious.

lol...now you're just putting words in my mouth and the nerds weren't smart enough to count to 7. 7 not 6 swinging strikes. It was a much better outing than I originally thought. Analyzing every single game is ridiculous. Sanchez wasn't as sharp as he was in the previous 2 games, but a little luck and he competed. He wasn't using the changeup at all. He mixed it in a bit more over his last couple starts....maybe he just wasn't feeling it.

as a jays fan when a young kid comes out and doesn't have his best stuff and is fortunate to only give up 2 runs I'm feeling pretty good as a Jays fan. This outing did little to tell what the prospects are for him moving forward. He finished strong and I'm sure they'll look at the start and go over his mistakes and try and get him in a position to limit those mistakes next time. I think it's hilarious people are coming on here to try and prove how good or bad a pitcher is from 103 pitches. Once we have 300 or 400 innings at the mlb level we can talk...103 pitches..lol Some of you guys need to go to a bar and stare at the opposite sex for a while.

I'm not going to even bother calc'ing the numbers..

But he gave up like a 1500 ops vs LHB today right?

Giving up HR to LHB backup/AAA catcher with career ops of 536.. lol

Yu Darvish gave up a homer to Herrmann too. Guess he's s*** too right?

Holy f*** tercet, learn baseball. Like out of anyone here I'm one of the least likely to defend Sanchez but you're just being so hilariously dumn.

So will everyone else's, no point in delaying it.

You idiots, you post this after his start is complete. Now there's still a chance for him to walk the lineup and you both get ridiculed even more.
