SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Massive series coming up. (At least it's late July and we're playing meaningful baseball). Lackey vs Hutchison-I think hutch will pitch well after having some rest with all star break Peavy vs Happ- peavy not doing great this year but I think he'll own us this game for some reason. Buchholz vs dickey- buch was lights out last start, I bet he's figured it out just in time to shut us down. De la rosa vs stroman- pitching duel, come on strow show! I'm guessing we split which I guess won't be horrible considering we need to just hold down the fort until the injuries get better. Plus no Lester!!!
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 This is a series they need 3/4, not a split. No Lester means they can't mess this up, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Yep. Need at least 2 wins and preferably 3. Want to win the first one badly to help the chances of doing just that. It's all about the division. And let's face it - we need help from the teams playing against Baltimore. Screw the wild card.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Apparently every series ever played is a "massive series"
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Apparently every series ever played is a "massive series" I see your point. Although i would say it's fair to say every series post all star game break when your a couple games out of a playoff position is an important one. God, i would like nothing more then to sweep the f***ing Boston Redsox here.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Each pitching matchup looks close to a toss up to me. Apparently every series ever played is a "massive series" They're all big series from here on out as long as the Jays stay in contention, especially these divisional ones.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Apparently every series ever played is a "massive series" After going 11-24 in a 35 game stretch, the Jays created this urgency. If they even went 15-20 in that stretch, they would have been 1st in the East right now. Unfortunately every series becomes vital because of that, and the margin of error becomes non-existant.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Apparently every series ever played is a "massive series" It was laughable before the all star break, but not anymore, especially when the Red Sox are only 4.5 games back of the Jays. The division is tightening up and there is a reasonable chance no wild card comes out of this division. Jays have to go on a run, otherwise they have no chance. The Red Sox and Rays are surging and if the top teams keep hanging around .500 it's not out of the question that they get passed, especially when both those teams should be leading the division.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 With Baltimore in tough against the Angels, we need to own this series and get back in it.

So frustrating. 14 games over with a nice cushion building and then a month plus of something like .350 play. Shotgun, meet foot. September will be the deciding factor for the East, just like a lot of people thought coming into the season. This series is big in determining who stays in striking distance and who might get pushed to the fringe by the last few weeks. Still, 63 games left with three key bats hopefully returning soon (four if you count Reimold) and I think the most dramatic turns are yet to come.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The O's don't play a below .500 team until they head to Chicago on August 17th to face the ChiSox who are 26-22 at home. We also play them 6 times in September.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The Yankees next 10 games are against the s***** Rangers SEVEN! times and the Jays three times. They could go on a mini run as well. If the Jays offense gets healthy and Reimold is their 4th OF, I could live with that. But they need to get health damn quick and keep their heads above water until then.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 I guess I should have mentioned, if we get swept we could be 1 game out of last place.
DH12 Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Love how the toronto media were downplaying boston and saying how weak they are this year. Problem is they look better than Toronto at this point.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 The Jays have played 4 home games against teams with the worst, and 3rd worst records in the AL, as of the All-Star Break. They are 2-2. The Orioles have played 4 away games against the teams with the best, and 2nd best records in the AL, as of the All-Star Break. They are 2-2. Strength of schedule for the win! Lets give it more time to play out, shall we?
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
