Moderate strains take 10 days to six weeks, and severe strains require three months or longer for recovery." Looked at least moderate, perhaps severe. fack thanks guess i won't be watching him play.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 @gregorMLB Encarnacion will have an MRI tomorrow. Gibbons said he felt something "pop" in his right leg. Season over IMO

Season over IMO Sounds like a ligament if he heard a pop. Any extended amount of time he's out and the season is pretty much over if they cant trade for anyone.

Key22 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Realistically though the Jays had a very hot month and that month combined with very mediocre performances from the other AL East clubs made us look better than we probably are. If Encarnacion is down and with the atrocious hitting in June/July it actually helps AA in terms of not making a trade that will cripple the farm. Indeed, if the Jays continue to lose - say we lose the next 5-7 in a row and fall to 3rd or 4rth place then rather than buying we might be in a position to sell. With Buerhle having a huge year we might be able to move him and Jansen for a similar package that the Cubs received. Not wishing to be sellers but I just have that gut feeling that we're not making the playoffs with the current team and with Buerhle's contract and Jansen heading for free agency these are both huge sell high options right now. And if we can land a premium positional prospect in return who will be ready really soon - it might be worth it.

We'll see how long EE is out for, but even with him, I was afraid the team would be back at .500 by the AS break given how they've been playing. As far as trading Buehrle and Janssen, I doubt it, but if they could get a prospect or 2 for them plus the salary relief, it would be huge. I'd rather deal Dickey than Buehrle though, I would rather take his 10M plus Morrow's 9M and sign one of the top FA SP in the off season.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Latest on Edwin........I hope the MRI shows at worst a grade 1 quad strain, or we're Fubar'd!! http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/jays-encarnacion-injured-in-game-vs-as/ If he heard a pop he's most likely out 3+ weeks. I've torn my quad and hammy a couple of times but also heard a pop on my quad once. I was running to first in softball. I was out 6 weeks with doing physio once a week. Bad quad tears can take quite a while.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 mark my words. You will see a playoff game in toronto this fall It will happen I'm not pessimistic on their chances, but I do react to the way I see them playing. When they were blowing those leads in April/early May, I said if they stuck with it, they'd turn it around because I thought they were playing good ball. Now they've been playing bad for a month and with the injuries, the bench is being exposed. I certainly hope AA doesn't get bent over in another trade, but other GM's will try to exploit the Jays' weak position. We'll see what happens.

wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 EE grade 2 quad strain, they said on sportsnet So this means he's out for how long I wonder? The information I'm reading on the interweb is not encouraging......
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 EE grade 2 quad strain, they said on sportsnet Just heard that also. Two weeks? That was also mentioned along with him being selected to the All Star team.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Looks like a grade 2 quad strain usually takes roughly 3 weeks to heal for common folk like us, but for a professional athlete and all that is made available to them, 2 weeks is more the norm. I guess it can vary from person to person somewhat. Encouraging anyway, especially with the All Star break coming up.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 This is bad enough But thank ________ it wasn't a joint or tendon
labadee Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Just heard that also. Two weeks? That was also mentioned along with him being selected to the All Star team. no way 2 weeks. a grade 1 can take up to 3-4 weeks to recover. Should be 5 ish weeks.. but that's for normal folk
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Hopefully by that time we're so out of it that he'll opt for a guaranteed recovery
kgm1 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Injuries to key people piling up but this one may be the worst. Thankfully the Allstar break takes up some of this time. Added to this is the walking wounded like Lind, and Bautista. To stay in the race everyone is going to have to pick it up.

I dont think the jays have the man power to step it up. too many spots missing or half dead. Lawrie and Ed out completely Bautista and lind not close to 100% I dont think Reyes is healthy either. he's not an all star anymore, but he's not as s***** as he has been playing. so it's Melky and Kawasaki against the world. our pitching has been super good lately. too bad there just isn't any offense to be had.
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 the writing has been on the wall for AA to get an everyday right handed 2nd baseman especially with this depleted lineup ... Full & healthy lineup, you can stick Tolleson or Kawasaki in there - but this team is in desperate need of an infusion of offense... It is outright gambling if AA prefers to wait out a better deal vs to move right now...this is not the case of guys just not playing well & having a rough patch as a team... 2 games out & can easily be 7 by the all star game - angels & rays are both playing well

Slowly realism starts to creep into the board and weed out the stubborn homers. Took long enough, didn't it?
