IBTrini Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 It seems Lawrie doesn't know how to turn to the right to protect his hands and wrists and let the ball hit him on the arm which has muscles to protect the bones. Like Matt Holliday did when Stroman hit him a few weeks ago. This may be so but in this particular case it would have been nearly impossible to do since it looked like he changed his mind about swinging at the very last moment hence the reason for the ump originally calling it a strike. How is it possible for anyone to switch from moving forward to turning backwards in a fraction of a second. That ball appeared to have a lot of inward movement.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 I'd be thrilled if the team could play 500 ball from here until the all star break. But the only way that happens with this tough schedule and the injuries to key position players is if the starting pitching is really really good. We need you RAD, Hutch, MB and Stro. We really do.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 i'm hoping you're right, but it seems a bit optimistic It won't be 3 weeks. If it's a fracture he will have his finger isolated for 3 weeks. Then he will do physio to regain full mobility in his finger, and then he will most likely do 2-3 games rehab, then rejoin the big club. So you are talking for sure 4-6 weeks, not 3.

I would be shocked to see Lawrie back before the middle of August, especially given his history of injuries.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Any chance Bautista plays in the Yankees series No one is really sure what is up with him until we hear word on the MRI results. Hopefully it's not too serious.

Seeing him in there as DH would be a huge boost to the club. Hope it happens. Just don't bunt anymore! Lol. Have they officially DL'ed Lawrie yet?
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I share the same view as well and there are a few on here who do so as well. It really makes no sense to get too worked up over the performance/non-performance of highly paid individuals or even management - The outcome of the game does not affect my finances nor my sanity. I have not yet reached the point whereby I will switch off the game, nor not attend a game, based on the game results. If that point ever arrives then so be it, I will just switch to something which provides more entertainment. The majority of teams are looking for the same thing, starters, which means the cost, most probably, is going to be quite high. In my opinion, the Jays are ill-equipped to lose more of their farm at the moment. It is all well and good to keep lamenting on the notion that all of this should have been addressed over the off-season but that's just beating a dead horse - this topic has been beaten to death and does not need to be rehashed at every opportunity. The mistake was made so it is time to move on from there and look for a solution which does not mean giving away every prospect at the moment just for an outside chance of getting into the WS. I know that's the ultimate goal however if you don't keep something for the future most fans will see through that ill-conceived plan and leave the party as soon as the celebrations have concluded anyway. It's really not as simple as outspending (money/resources) your rivals. Thanks for the sanity post. I love baseball and travel from Alberta all over to watch it but some seem to live or die with the jays fortunes. Society in general is like that, wanting everything now and unwilling to wait till they can afford it. We have gutted enough of the farm so unless it is a sure thing at the deadline why gut more.
bowld Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Lawrie placed on DL, Kratz sent to AAA
bowld Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Gose and Pillar recalled. *sigh* Team has no depth so isn't very surprising. Not like they had much to choose from
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Kratz down lol.... Start Jacoby and Gardner in your fantasy leagues people it's going to be field day(s).
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Time for Dickey to learn to pitch to Kratz.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 You can't have 3 catchers on the bench.... It just handcuffs you. However Kratz should be talented enough to catch Dickey......
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 looks like bautista is not playing for a while, even if the MRI comes back clean
bowld Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Timing for these injuries couldn't be any worse. Must find a way to take 2/3 from the Yanks at home
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Need Gump to step up...... Hopefully Lind is ready to go as it will likely be Reyes-Cab-EE-Lindo-Rasmus tonight......Whitely is far from untouchable.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Link? no link, based on two OF callups (platoon)
bowld Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Joey did say yesterday that he will likely take a few days off to let it heal a bit
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 For what it's worth... Jose Bautista @JoeyBats19 44m “@Roy9ner: Hey @JoeyBats19 I'm coming to the game tonight better put on a show bud #goyard #jays” waiting for good news...hoping to play tn!
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 It's not so much whether he plays tonight or not but him being hopeful that he was going to play is somewhat encouraging news. Further to that, just b/c he's not in the lineup doesn't mean he can't pinch hit.

If it gets late in the game with Lind up they will have Joe scratching his head whether they will pinch hit Bau or not.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 have any moves been made today?? sorry... just saw the lineup. lol wow.... lineup doesn't look so good.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 have any moves been made today?? sorry... just saw the lineup. lol wow.... lineup doesn't look so good. It actually doesn't look so bad all things considered.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 It actually doesn't look so bad all things considered. If Bautista cant even even pinch hit.... it's really bad. Lind is completely immobile, Bautista bad legs... Lawrie not in the defense means we have holes. Lawrie in the lineup means that Reyes doesn't have to be able to cover as much ground, which is good because he doesn't seem to be able to. Fransisco is a fence post at third. we need some good luck from the BABPIP dragon while Lawrie is healing.
