I know it's not sexy...but I think it's realistic to seek Valbuena from the Cubs. He's got two more years on his contract and is only a tick below Lawrie defensively at both 2B and 3B. I saw a Yankee article suggesting Severino would get it done for them...which would likely equals Norris for us. Seems like a big price for a non impact bat but it's probably about the Cubs asking price.

Absolutely no way I give up Norris for Valbuena. Yes he is having a not bad year but he hasn't hit prior to this year. Prado can be had for a salary dump, defensively he is OK won't hit a bunch and the Snakes would have to eat some of his 11 mil for 2 more years contract.

Not sure what Headley costs or if he could be fixed but right now there just isn't a lot of sellers.

Enjoy the Games, always a good place to watch the Blue Jays . Polite fans unlike at dodger stadium, My worst baseball experience was at Chavez Ravine. Hit San Fran on your way back as PacBell/AT&T is the nicest park in baseball IMO and again nice fans or drive down to San Diego as a Petco baseball experience is great.

Thanks, I've herd its a good stadium for visiting fans. We have the 3 games in Anaheim, last one is a 12:30 start time so right after that game were heading to San Francisco for a few days and going to AT&T on friday against the D-backs. So pumped. If I had more time I would of liked to fit in San Diego and the Dodgers but time and money talks.

Any word on Bautista and Lawrie in terms of time? We all need to cross fingers Bautista doesn't miss more than a week.

If that ever happens.

Shoot me.

wouldn't you say the same thing if I told you in March that that the Jays would be in first place and moved Lawrie to 2B to accommodate a Francisco/Tolleson platoon. I'm not sure of Norris' true value at this point (we know that Jays fans are going to rate him like his current numbers, but i have no idea what his value truly is). If he's really in the bottom half of the top 100 like I think Severino is...than it's probably about right for 2-3 win utility IF who's barely making above league min and will probably top out around 8M for the next two years. It's like getting a young and healthy Izturis. Heading into 2015 we'd have Izturis and Valbuena which would give us more IF depth than what we've had in years. It's very possible that Osuna, Tirado or Nolin would get it done. Better chance that the Jays go looking for Valbuena in a much bigger deal with Shark or Hammel.

Sounds like a great trip. I'm trying to do all the parks so I have to head East from now on . I too live in Alberta. Seattle is our closest park and it is a great place to watch the jays if you get a chance

He's much, much more valuable than Severino.

I threw the question at BA a few weeks ago in one of their hot sheet chats... Whether Norris was top 50, the answer i received indicated he was certainly in the top 50 conversation.

Can't wait for their mid season rankings.

Mac33 is a good poster on there. 9 ender. Jayboy3000...irsmartfan...sparky And.there are a few in amongst the ones you mentioned. I am usually at war with the ones you mentioned but lost interest in troll baiting. Gibbers occationally to fight with Sempai is on there and to argue against trading prospects lol...same as here.

A deal with the Cubbies seems most likely as they have the pieces . It will empty the farm and right now I'm not sure AA does that . He may just live with what we have till after the Allstar break.

I wasn't just listing bad posters. Just all the ones I could think of. It's just that most of them were crap. The only others I recognize are irsosmartfan and Mac 33 now that you mention it. Place is a graveyard.

From the Star:

“I don’t feel bad,” Bautista said post-game. ‘It’s been tight in that area the past couple of days. I came out of the game rather than risk further injury. We’ll see what the MRI says. I don’t want to make it worse, so maybe sit out a couple of days and let it calm down.”

Hopefully the MRI will say that he'll only miss a day or two, or be limited to DH duties for a few days (where the Jays will likely call up Gose or Pillar to fill in in RF until Bautista is ready)

You would think getting hit while trying to swing at a pitch way inside, would tell Lawrie that he needs to be more selective, particularly on inside pitches. He was trying to swing at a pitch he couldn't possibly hit and ended up getting hit by it. I guess jumping at the pitch goes hand in hand with his bat wiggling, maybe something like this could finally get him to commit to a quieter stance.

Especially at the same time. Both injuries today looked bad to me, but we'll have to wait and see.

This is the killer. Singularly, the team should still be able to keep its head above water however all these injuries (including Morrow and Cecil) at the same time does not bode well for the team.

Yeah I don't know why anyone would panic unless this is the best thing in your life. For me it's a source of entertainment. I like to see the Jays win, but if they don't I wouldn't lose a lick of sleep over it.

I share the same view as well and there are a few on here who do so as well. It really makes no sense to get too worked up over the performance/non-performance of highly paid individuals or even management - The outcome of the game does not affect my finances nor my sanity. I have not yet reached the point whereby I will switch off the game, nor not attend a game, based on the game results. If that point ever arrives then so be it, I will just switch to something which provides more entertainment.

The majority of teams are looking for the same thing, starters, which means the cost, most probably, is going to be quite high. In my opinion, the Jays are ill-equipped to lose more of their farm at the moment. It is all well and good to keep lamenting on the notion that all of this should have been addressed over the off-season but that's just beating a dead horse - this topic has been beaten to death and does not need to be rehashed at every opportunity. The mistake was made so it is time to move on from there and look for a solution which does not mean giving away every prospect at the moment just for an outside chance of getting into the WS. I know that's the ultimate goal however if you don't keep something for the future most fans will see through that ill-conceived plan and leave the party as soon as the celebrations have concluded anyway. It's really not as simple as outspending (money/resources) your rivals.

"Bautista-Edwin is getting old" quote

It would be nice to see these two on the Jays performing well over the next few years however as you and others in then past have pointed out, they are getting older. Just think how much of a return you can net for the two of them now or in the off-season. There are others on the team as well who can bring back additional decent pieces if they are inclined to go that route. I would not like to think of those two,Bautista-Edwin, on any opposing team playing against us however what they can bring back into the Jays system now should help ease the pain quite considerably.
