kgm1 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Just wondering what people think the odds are . I have already posted I think it is less than 1 %
kgm1 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 s*** Tried to make this a poll and obviously screwed it up . Does anyone actually think we have a chance at signing this guy ?
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 1.1%. We (supposedly) have the money and the need. But so do five other teams, and many of those teams aren't as averse to long-term deals.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Just wondering what people think the odds are . I have already posted I think it is less than 1 % 50/50 They either will or won't
bbb44 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Just wondering what people think the odds are . I have already posted I think it is less than 1 %I agree , I think the Jays will go all out if the interest is mutual i think but i have a feeling he will find other teams like the Dodgers and Yankees and Cubs more appealing for history and community reasons and the Mariners only for the purpose of community reasons .
kgm1 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 All sarcasm aside , I think some on this board think we have a realistic chance and I find that pretty funny .
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 All sarcasm aside , I think some on this board think we have a realistic chance and I find that pretty funny . he visited a few cities before returning to japan....Toronto was not one of them...so tanaka to the jays...odds not looking good..
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I just have no faith in AA's ability to play in the free agent pitching market. He either doesn't understand that you have to pay a premium, or the valuations he uses are way too low.
ILDD Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Yeah, less than 10% is my guess. The aversion (correct imho) to long term deals will stop us offering biggest contract and his desire to win will mean he signs elsewhere.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Masahiro loves the T-Dot, he's a Jay no doubt Tanaka_FTW!!!! Well Jay , If I thought tanaka would be willing to come here great but I also worry rogers won't kepp this level of funding now that they have their hockey deal
kgm1 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 So funny that you had to start another thread? C'mon Ken, this is redundant. That post wasn't meant for you Jay ! it was directed at the 50/50 post
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 That post wasn't meant for you Jay ! it was directed at the 50/50 post That guy must've been joking. Obviously the Jays don't have a 50/50 shot at Tanaka. I think everyone on here has tempered expectations.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Well, Pelley said on SN that Jays fans need not worry, AA has the green light and the goal remains, to win a WS?! This was said immediately after the buy. You obviously have more faith in Rogers than I do . And I really wanted a poll on this not just another thread ,. Not sure why it went to a strait thread cause i selected poll

I wanted to see if people actually thought we had more than a 10 % chance .
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 0%, not going to happen.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Just wondering what people think the odds are . I have already posted I think it is less than 1 % I think it all comes down to Rogers. If they feel the marketability of the team has gone down the toilet and they went to re-create last year's hype, Tanaka is pretty much the only way to do it. He would definitely create a media firestorm. So I could see it happening only if it's Rogers idea and they are willing to pay whatever it takes. If it's just AA simply trying to work within whatever the general Rogers framework is, it's practically impossible.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Damn percentages! Yes or NO . I say NO.

Although i can't really see Rogers making suggestions on who the Bluejays should sign. They seem pretty hands off other then approving the $$.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Probably about a 10% chance.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 My trusty sources say that the Jays have a hard-on for Tanaka. 50%.
Nox Verified Member Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 My trusty sources say that the Jays have a hard-on for Tanaka. 50%. We all know Kevin Gray wouldn't like about a thing like this.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Before the Arod suspension: 15% After: 5% Maybe less....
Caper Verified Member Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 We can't offer him the most, probably just as much though... They only thing we can do is remind him who dropped A-bombs on his country.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I have no faith in alex to get this done, too much and bad location for tanaka
The_DH Verified Member Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 It will take something like seven years. AA won't do it.
