  1. Pokes head into forum, leaves immediately.
  2. I really don't think anybody should be too disappointed that Hoffman is going the other way. Pretty overrated by the majority on this board. Deal is a solid B+ from the Jays perspective.
  3. $55M for 2.33 years of Reyes is pretty ugly. Wonder if Colorado knows that.
  4. Confirmed. Looks like this should be a pretty nice deal for AA. Tulo aging on turf is kind of scary though.
  5. Or does NJH always lose?
  6. Yes. This, defiitely this. The mature libraries for Python are what is probably going to block Julia from really taking off IMO. It should also be noted that the benchmarks posted on Julia's homepage don't incorporate these libraries which are, when compiled, usually faster than what most people can reasonably do in C. As for books, Wes McKinney's book (he's the guy who wrote Pandas) is a great place to start. http://www.amazon.com/Python-Data-Analysis-Wrangling-IPython/dp/1449319793 4 stars is probably lower than it should be. It's an intro book focused on the tools. If you understand it's that and only that, then it's great.
  7. That was some pseudo c# which is actually really inappropriate when discussing a projection model code. R or Python (or some C/C++ for the parts those 2 choke on) would have been the wiser choice. Need to step up my reverse trolling game.
  8. God dammit Dr. Dinger. I bet he didn't even go to med school.
  9. What do you think it is that a projection system does? Random rand = new Random(); double babip = rand.NextDouble().Scale(0.25, 0.32); ? No.
  10. Is this a serious post? Somebody competent who has more remaining patience than I can explain everything (and there is alot) that is wrong with what is written here.
  11. Julia is cool but it's raw as hell. The tooling is complete garbage too. It's almost C equivalent speed wise though so it will be interesting if it gains momentum.
  12. When you have the chance to watch a mediocre team play a near meaningless game on a random Friday night in June, you do it. It's just not something you can pass up.
  13. Lol because Sanchez's ERA-scaled true talent estimate maybe just maybe snuck under 5.0? I would say I expect more from you but that would be lying.
  14. Jerry Howarth: you guys think he can stick?
  15. Earned Runs = Resultz Duh
  16. Quick poll. In this photo, Beeston is: A) Rye drunk Gin drunk C) High on extra-strength cold sore meds
  17. And the rest of the division celebrates aggressively...
  18. Aaron Sanchez is a horrible starting pitcher at the current moment. He is in fact a gas-can. He might grow out of that (every Jays fan wants that), he might not. Right now, he's f***ing terrible.
  19. On what planet are you living? What games are you watching? Holy f***.
  20. 1:1 K:BB after today's start. Lets not break out the annointing oil.
  21. Funny, I read here earlier this season that Pillar > Gardner. I guess that take was too hot.
  22. Yea, it's interesting. If AA were to be promoted I think Tinnish would almost certainly be the guy to step into the GM role. Who knows if both Beeston and AA are gone though.
  23. Going back to Trout, wasn't it noted ******** Reagins who drafted him? Lol. Kind of the perfect anecdote to all this nonsense.
  24. Really, it's no different that taking a 200 PA sample of a true talent .380 wOBA hitter in which he hit .280 and then calling him bad because of that.
  25. That's such ********. The two moves that f***ed this team over (the Dickey and Marlins deals) were slammed from the beginning by the vast majority of useful posters. For instance, Hurl had it as a 9 figure projected loss in value.
