Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Pecota rankings up http://www.baseballprospectus.com/fantasy/dc/ Jays at 80-82 Yanks at 82-80 Dodgers 98-64 Why exactly are the Redsox projected for 89-73? thats complete ********.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Why do you follow the Jays? Because they are my local team and I grew up watching them.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Big bucks for Freeman Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 1m One source said Freddie Freeman's extension could be as much as $125 million over eight years when it is done. @FOXSports1
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Jeff Baker just signed with the Marlins. And just like that, this board will go nuts
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Jeff Baker just signed with the Marlins. And just like that, this board will go nuts Looks like he got 2 years and about 8 million.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 What? Steamer has them as the best in the league. Can you explain to me how they are projected for best in the league when just last year they were projected to be around .500? Plus they lost Ellsbury, Salty, and Drew
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Looks like he got 2 years and about 8 million. That's probably fair, but heftier than I would have wanted to give him for on the bench / part time platoon.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 So what is everyone's second option for a platoon partner?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Red Sox lost Ellsbury, Salty and Drew and are bound for regression from Victorino and their pitching. That explains the 89-73 record projected by PECOTA. As for the Jays, add Jimenez or Santana and we're near the top. Wake up AA!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 So what is everyone's second option for a platoon partner? Probably just in house. Izzy at 2nd and Navarro at DH.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 2014 Bench - Thole - Goins - Gose - Sierra sigh
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 1:35pm: Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald tweets that Baker will earn $1.6MM in 2014 and $2.1MM in 2015. + $500K of incentives built into each year So including incentives, 2 years, 4.7 million??
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 1:35pm: Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald tweets that Baker will earn $1.6MM in 2014 and $2.1MM in 2015. + $500K of incentives built into each year Hmmm, I thought it was 3.7 per year. That seems like a pretty good deal for Miami.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I would have easily done that deal, if that is it.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Mets made an offer to Stephen Drew: Robert Brender @robertbrender Francesa said he doesn't know how many years the #Mets offered Dew, but an offer was made. They are currently fighting over amount of years. Obvious he'll end up with the Mets, as Boston wants to give Xander Bogaerts the everyday job at SS no matter what.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 You forgot about Erik Kratz. Thole has options remembering BTW.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 The Braves must really believe in Freeman, does that not seem like the kind of deal he should be gunning for if he basically reproduced 2013? He's a nice player, and is trending well, but he was also riding quite a high babip. Also just about to get married and signs for 100M? That's a recipe for complacency right there!
LunchBox Verified Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Also just about to get married and signs for 100M? That's a recipe for complacency right there! A pending marriage and a $100M contract sounds like a recipe for a prenuptial agreement.
Lawrie22 Verified Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Seems like the marlins got Baker pretty cheap, surprised AA wasn't in on him as a platoon partner. AA has also mentioned a few times that they were discussing a couple deals involving a bat so I beleive if AA does get a RH bat it will be via trade, if not than it will be Sierra because there is no one could left in FA
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 A's sign Sam Fuld, minor league deal $800k
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Good depth signing for the A's. He'll be a good stash in Sacramento, with the outfield of the A's already set with Cespedes, Crisp, Reddick and Gentry.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 That's a good deal for the Blue......errr Marlins. *sighs* AA cheaping out here means we might get to witness more of this! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tzbFOmsyVVQ/UEOc1fJ4leI/AAAAAAAAEbs/1Qcf-7eta2I/s1600/Sierra-Fall-2.gif Sierra goodness...

Time for some BKal in the outfield for the Jays. He led the conference in outfield assists from right field every year he played and let the Canadians in short season.

His problem is getting to the ball and catching it. And unfortunately, you have to do that FIRST.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 There are only 15 teams in each league... And you can only say that so many times. The Blue Jays have not committed a number of free agent dollars proportionate to their available funds.
