After we have all fallen in love with him over the past month or so and some decent stats and D, there's no way we can just let this guy grab another seat on the DFA carousel is there??

Are DeRosa/Boni/Izzy DFA'able/tradeable?

DeRosa has grown on me and as a 25th guy playing sparingly, I like him.

Boni is starting to come around, has lots of speed but can't play any of his positions well. Ability to play the OF (not well of course) also helps a little.

Izzy has a decent track record but he'd be the one (taking in his contract) I'd dump on another team if possible.

Kawasaki grinds out ABs, runs up pitch counts, and gets on base at a pretty decent clip. Defensively, he's what I'd call very average, and his noodle arms hurts his overall D. Thus moving him to second (in a platoon-ish role maybe with Boni?) His D would likely improve where he doesn't need to use his arm as much.

All I know is I want this guy around for the rest of the year and maybe longer. Is there any way AA holds onto him when Reyes comes back in a month or so?

If Reyes were to come back today I'd DFA Bonifacio. He's a butcher on the infield which basically makes him a speedy 4th/5th outfielder, which we already have in Gose (for now) and Davis (when he's back). For a guy who was praised for his versatility, there just isn't much that he does well.

It's fairly obvious that it has to be one of Boni, Izzy or DeRosa... Frankly, that's a coin toss for me. You know, one of those 3 sided coins.

My initial thought would be to try and trade Boni to an NL team for....something.

Kawasaki, just by his ability to play short, is more valuable than any of Boni, Izturis and DeRosa. Pretty much guaranteed though that this club will keep the less valuable players. #LoViste #3YearDeal #PromisesMade

I think there's pretty much 0 doubt that Kawasaki is our best option at 2b upon Reyes return, I think our best option is probably to trade boni for a non prospect with some upside if possible

I'd be surprised if there are no injuries and Kawasaki doesn't get optioned to AAA. The guy has a .259 career slugging percentage no matter how much we like his personality.

Boni has speed and versatility. It's not needed here right now (and he's so bad at 2B that the versatility is really more perception than reality) but someone will give us a non prospect for him (throw another bad reliever into the mix). Other option is of course trading Rajai but he has to be healthy for that to happen.

Nobody can criticize the DeRosa/Blanco signings yet want Kawasaki to stay up. He's just not a very good player, sorry.

MDR or Blanco can't sell jerseys or create any buzz at all, this guy obviously can. As a baseball move Kawasaki is adequate...but DFA'ing him would be a horrible management decision.

He's our second Johnny Mac!

Boni,s bat is heating up and while his defense is horrible I,m amazed at how poorly Izturis has played . hopefully we can move guys like davis and Izturis before reyes comes back . not getting much but Neither are a fit on this team with Bonifacio there . He isn't good defensively but hat the better bat switch hitter with better speed and can't be worse than Davis in the outfield .

as long as Kawasaki,s OBP stays up and he continues to work counts then his defense and OBP should make him the starter at 2nd . the black hole on defense at 2nd has cost us dearly.

As much fun as his personality has been, I think once can make a legitimage baseball decision to keep Kawasaki. Currently getting on base about 100 points higher than either Boni or Izturis and can play short. I don't think anybody is pretending that Kawasaki is more than he is, just that he's been a bigger contributor to this team than his MIF competition.

He's signed to a minor league deal, so even if we have to send him down, it's not like the organization will lose him. Or does he need to clear waivers?

He can be sent down and called up as we please as far as I know.

seriously? even with the ONE big day he had at the plate he's still a POS. add in the fact that he has zero arm strength with no accuracy and he's AA's make or break guy. lol

the fact that he's a pretentious prick doesn't help. all swagger no substance.

They need to play him at 2B. Boni and Izturis both had chances to take the job and run with it and it hasn't happened.

I'd go even further, both have been given a chance and shown they are completely incapable of doing the the job.

If Kawasaki or Reyes can transition to 2B, then Kawasaki should probably continue to start. Not ideal, but he is better than the other options.

Izturis is the obvious choice to go. Put him out there and see if there is any takers. Swallow your pride AA and do what is best for the team.

Kawaski is nothing more than a fill in man from Buffalo who happens to be better than Isturis and Bonifacio, which says something about Beeston and his side-KID AA, doesn't he look like a 13 year old? I mean AA. A YES MAN to BEESTON, Thats why he picked him. Can you Imagine Pete Rose managing the Blue Jays in 2013, NO WAY NO HOW would he be such a YES MAN to Beeston !There is an old saying in business, it starts from the top to down. The Blue Jays are the epitome of that. Yeah, I guess Kawawski is cute, but being cute doesn't win pennants.

We're not gonna make Reyes shift from his favoured position he's played all his life so that we can fit in Kawasaki. If anything it's the other way around.

We can't get rid of the useless Isturis because we FOR SOME REASON, (ask Mr. Beeston, the man of burden), we signed this useless **** for three years!

I dont mind Kaw at 2nd base. If the bats we do have are hitting where they are supposed to, and with Reyes back, we should be able to "afford" a light hitting 2nd. If we had a decent option at 2nd base then for sure I would prefer to keep Kaw on the bench. Our bench options are ridiculous. Would be great to have a utility player like him to come off the bench and at least one bat off the bench(not a great option but I wish we would have gotten Dunn for a bench bat-no flames please)

As entertaining as Kawasaki is, the Jays won't be able to keep a light hitting ss on their roster. Too many spots on the 25 man roster taken up by the mess of below mediocre pitchers.
