itsawrap Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Sending Kawasaki down is bad karma. This guy's got the mojo
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Melky and Dickey should go on the DL. Dickey has to have some minor injury and Melky needs to rest that hammy, it hurts watching him run.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Dickey will improve, he started to get his velocity back today, was as high as 82mph today.
blackjays21 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 We have to keep Kawasaki up... Everybody's gelling , smiling, and having fun.. We can f*** with the chemistry, I would trade boni for a decent young starting pitcher in the minors.. Can't have enough prospects!
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I would DFA Bonifacio. That's not going to happen though. A reliever probably goes down. B-bye To Perez and his 0.00 ERA.
oakville69 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 You need bullpen arms because you never know if Rogers or Chi Ming Wang will fall apart. You may need a 7 inning bullpen . Jays have also played extra inning games. Ginbby knows how to manage a bullpen.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Sure but 7 is plenty. 8 is overkill. There only 2 reasons for an 8 man pen and they are Perez impressing so much it's hard to send him back and McGowan not having Gibby's confidence yet. And to be really honest, Lincoln was amazing in his last few appearances and only went down because he had a tired overworked arm after an 18 inning game and the team needed someone rested.

You just described a stacked bullpen, at least it seems this way for now. I really think Wagner and Perez have really solidified this pen, especially Wagner.

If they get into a scenario where they need extra arms, I'd rather see them deal with that on the fly like they were earlier in the season...rather than send Kawasaki down. I think he's shown more than just being a team mascot. Certainly more than Izturis and Boni.

It's pretty clear it's Juan Perez to the minors.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Perez doesn't have any options and he has pitched so well that someone will pick him up for sure. Only arms with Options are Loup and Wagner and then you can also try to send McGowan cause so far he didn't show anything special but he's owed like 1.5mil.

Someone needs to have a kitchen mishap.

He has arguably the most upside in the pen.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I agree that Melky should be placed on the DL. He isn't at 100% and its not like he's hitting well anyways. His OPS is .688 and he's hobbling all over the place. Plus with Reyes coming back, I know the Jays want to still keep Bautista batting second, with EE batting third and Lind batting cleanup. Reyes slides into the leadoff spot, which pushes Cabrera down in the lineup, to either 6th or 7th. I think its an option they explore. As for the pen, its been a team strength and I wouldn't want to mess with it by sending Loup or Wagner down. McGowan has been really useless in the pen, though for sure a team claims him if the Jays try to send him back down. I doubt they DFA Izturis since they are committed to him long term and he's been hitting better. Boni has been a huge disappointment, though I think he's out of options and I think the Blue Jays still like him because he has speed and since he was part of that big deal with the Marlins. Unless you can trade Boni for a prospect etc, the Jays won't lose him for nothing. The two likely scenarios I see are: 1) Cabrera to the DL on Monday; Reyes activated 2) Kawasaki sent down; Reyes activated

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Sorry for having to ask this again, but who in the pen have options and who don't???
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 And the obvious keepers are Janssen, Cecil, Delabar regardless of option situation.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I still think we should be trying to trade Oliver

I still think we should be trying to trade Oliver +100000000 Sorry for having to ask this again, but who in the pen have options and who don't??? Loup, Delabar, Janssen, Wagner, and Perez all still have options, I believe.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I still think we should be trying to trade Oliver I'd trade him to Texas for a hard throwing kid with options or something, Texas loves Oliver and so does Oliver lol Probably Perez. ..... Loup, Delabar, Janssen, Wagner, and Perez all still have options, I believe. If Perez has an option then 100% he goes down, no question about it. He hasn't been used a lot (sexy 10ks in 10IP tho) I think this is actually going to happen. Kawasaki has played his way onto the team with a 90 wRC+, which is outstanding for a shortstop. Oliver's been mopping up since we have three other lefties. I agree Gsnarls, let's deal him. And if he switches to 2B and keeps hitting, 90 wRC+ would be even sexier as a 2B, correct?

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I agree with trading Oliver, 4 lh relievers is quite the luxury and at least 2 of them can face righties as well. Short term the best move might be to option Loup since he has options to avoid losing any of the guys without options. We're almost in July so trade activity should pick up soon. Then again, AA might deem Oliver's vetrin presence too valuable to trade for some career minor leaguer and may just get rid of Perez.
Hawkguy Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Kawasaki has the fourth best OBP% among ALL Blue Jay regulars. He's trailing Lind and Encarnacion by fair margins, and he's breathing on Bautista's neck. He's ahead over everyone else from Arencibia to Rasmus to Lawrie to Izturis to even Davis. Kawasaki HAS to stay. Sending him down would be a very dumb move. Gibbons says he can play 2B.. great! He should see the majority of starts against RHP as long as he keeps getting on base at a .320+ clip (.341 right now) and his defense is good enough.
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I think the pecking order for middle/utility infielder goes Reyes Kawasaki Izturis DeRosa Bonifacio
Caper Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I am beginning to think Loup will get sent down.... just a temporary thing, until Oliver and Perez are traded.
